Ahh gotta love gear failure on the day of the show!

Was messing around with my amp, dialing in a tone for tonight when all of the sudden my SVT-4 Pro starts acting up, power light going off and on.Turn it off fast as can and unplug it. Wait a few mins to see if maybe I was just drawing too much power or something.
Hook everything back up, try it again and nope, same thing and this time with a lovely burning electronic smell.
Thankfully this happened around 4 pm. Went to Long and Mcquade, rented some Gallien Krueger head, get back home and get everything hooked up and it actually sounds better than my SVT-4 Pro does which I thought was strange because I used my Pearce Preamp into the effects return. Happy this happened at home instead of on stage and the show is still going on!

Dang, that could have been bad.  Nice save on renting the GK stuff!

That GK head worked out really well last night!
Also had a few people asking me about the Kahler when we got off.

Still, bummer about your Ampeg going out.    I know all too well about frying gear. I once blew up my SWR rig onstage, and ended up running through the PA for the rest of the night.

Thats why I'm happy it happened at home.
If I had to run straight into the PA with nothing on stage to hear myself with it would be the most depressing show for me ever.

been there with a tube head  mesa 400+ and a SS Mackie FR1400

the mesa failure was not so bad because the PA was adequate.
The mackie episode? ...not so lucky and all I heard all night was my bass notes bouncing off the back wall
