| I was bored to death this evening at home, so I thaught I'd look some videos on youtube. I watched a video of Gary Kahler talking about the bass trems and how to setup. I thaught he could tell me nothing new on the subject (and in fact he didn't), but along the way I saw something flash by that I'd never seen! It was at 6:52 in this videoA freaking 8 string! I didn't know such a thing existed, did you guys? | |

| Man, awesome! Where could I order one if I would like to buy one to use for a custom build some day in the far future? | |

| You can order them from the main Kahler site, but from what I've heard, they are all custom one-off builds. Which means (unless something changes) Kahler isn't planning on making these on a regular basis, but only for special requests. | |

| I'd wager it also means they're going to be expensive. | |

| of course most of us, being of the bass trem persuasion, have heard from someone or another ....... "why did you put a trem on a bass? why dont you just play guitar?" blah, blah, blah ... why do you ask un original questions? but i look at an 8 string tremolo, and it could be a 4 and 4 dual octave set (cool!) but i would ask the same about any bass with more than 5 strings ....... "why dont you just play guitar?" i dont ask tho ... because of the questions asked above and, who am i to inhibit anyone's creativity. i've just never had a need for more than 4 strings. but, for example, i have had the need to have a huge floor signal processor in front of me. 8 string trem ... wild. les claypool needs one! | |

| I reckon that the Kahler 8-string bass trem is probably for eight discrete strings, instead of octave strings since the spacing between the saddles are all the same. And I would add to your observation, MadMike. An eight-string bass trem....wild. The bass that it goes on....even wilder! | |

les claypool needs one! I have a sixer coming in by UPS hopefully sometime today. I don't need more than 4 strings either, I just want them. | |
