| Aw, crap. But I am still proud of our team. They stayed undefeated until this last game, and took Canada into overtime. And even though Canada broke the record for the most gold medals during the Winter games, the United States broke the record for the most medals won overall. I normally hate it when the Olympics draw to a close, but I am especially going to miss these Olympics when they are over, since they took place so close to us. I have to admit that I was, at first, not looking forward to the hoopla being right in our own backyard. I thought we would have to deal with bad traffic, and throngs of crowds. It wasn't anything like that at all. Instead, it was cool to see little signs everywhere that the Olympics were happening so close to us. It was a little bit of excitement for our sleepy little town. Linda and I are planning a trip to Vancouver sometime this summer to visit the Olympics sites. So, the Closing Ceremonies are tonight, and the torch shall be passed. Next stop, the 2012 Summer Games in London, then the 2014 Winter Games in Russia. And there are the Paralympics, too. They begin March 12th, and run until March 21st. For those of you that don't know, the Paralympics are held in the same venues as the Olympics are. I plan on watching as much as I can. | |
