| I thought I would start a thread here about my project Blueshawk bass that goes sharp after playing it. I will see about filing the nut slkots a little wider, to see if that helps. | |

| You would think the trem would cause the strings to detune not go sharp. Kind of odd. | |

| Actually BD, this is why I can say for certain that what is happening is that your strings are binding up somewhere, and it's probably happening at the nut. The strings get caught, and they go sharp.
Again, try opening the nut slots with a small file, and then color in the slots with a pencil. This might cure the problem, and let us know if it doesn't.

| yeah ... like eric said ... with the pencil. opening up the nut grooves will help, but putting the pencil lead on it will make it super smooth where the string has contact.
thanx eric ... the pencil works great for me!
i've also tried chapstick ... it breaks down under the pressure and friction and lithium grease ... it works good but its messy. just a dab ll do ya.

| Lithium grease does sound like a good idea in the nut slots. | |

| You're welcome, MadMike! Just don't try to use the pencil lead to soothe chapped lips! I used to use 3-in-1 oil, then I went to some spin-off brand. It worked OK, but I didn't like how the oil would drip all over the place. It wasn't until many years had passed that I learned about the pencil lead trick. | |
