PostSubject: Eric H's review of the Guitar Research ( cheapie ) strings   Eric H's review of the Guitar Research ( cheapie ) strings EmptyThu Jul 15, 2010 7:10 am

so it's been 3 days now since Eric got the strings from me, and I am waiting for a review.

No playing Mr nice guy, if you think they are total JUNK for you, then let us know.
If you think they are good but still only worth 3 bucks a pack, let us know.
If you think the tone is similar to xxx brand at 20+ a pack, let us know.

If they actually did work out for you, I'll buy 4 dozen sets when they are on sale again, and resell them to everybody for 4 bucks a pack after I get labels printed that say "endorsed by EH" to make up the printing costs....lol Smile

BTW...who the hell is EH anyway? All I could find on him was some old 40 something that had a great run in the 90's and early 2000's... time for VH1 or VHClassic to do a 1/2 hour show on "where is he now"

Razz

I haven't had a chance to properly test drive the strings yet, but since I have to go over some of our material today, I'll be sure and take notes.

And....who the hell am I? scratch Heck, I've been asking that same question for years now! Laughing

Like I've said before, I've seen and done a LOT in the last 30 years, but all I really have from it all is a ton of stories. How much is any of that worth? Well....that....and a buck....will get you a cup of coffee at Denny's! lol!

So since my name will be on the labels when you go to re-sell them, do I get a discount price? Laughing

if your name on the package HELPS sell them...sure why not right?

you'll get a hefty percentage of any sales, and I'll email you the contract to review, sign and email back.

Could I market "EH Strings" reboxed from GR to EH hmmm.... but you never know, I've seen a lot of stupid things make a lot of money before like this:

OK Folks, the moment you've all been waiting for (yeah, right)!

After letting the strings settle for a couple of days, I picked up my bass today, and did what I could to abuse the strings. I have to say in all honestly that, so far, they are better than I expected them to be. They have a really nice bonky tone to them, they respond well to popping and slapping, and they seem to stay in tune on my trem quite nicely. Also, even with the D being a .70, and the G a .50, henceforth, slightly larger, they aren't stiff at all, and are easy to play on. Now the real test will be this Saturday when I get together with the band for practice, since that will be a true test of the strings under real combat conditions.

Send me that contract, Mike! Wink

I can notice the tone change on the same bass from the 45 to 50 G string but not really the others.
I used to use a 95 E string just not on the stuff I always left in DGCF...too light but much more easily bendable.
I still can't find any info on who actually manufactures these things and repackages them as GR.

what about the jesus picture in the cheese sandwich that went for 10 thousand something?

or the 1,000 beaniebabies or the people paying a grand for a ps2 before they came out cause all the japs were selling theirs..or the original iphone or the town in California that was for sale in 1998 and sold for a million dollars "everything included" houses, buildings, roads, infrastructure, and a population of 1100 or so people because the town was broke and needed money etc.etc....the list goes on forever.

they did sell the town to a private investor, and it is now a rich folks retreat --hahaha

the only thing that i get bummed about seeing items like this is that I will never have that kind of play-cash to spend on a whim ;(

there are some americans that have way more money than anyone could possibly ever need, for them, their whole family and their neighbors' families too. i feel like they make this much and suck it up from eveyone else when theres only so much to go around, so people like me work too hard to make just enuff.

and then they buy crap, that they dont even need for way too much money.

dont buy brittney spears' hair ... buy me some mesa bass rig stuff!

VERY well put, MadMike! Wink

OK, follow-up on the strings. I beat the crap out of them last night at practice. Trem divebombs, pinching harmonics, brutal tapping runs, major chordal abuse....and they were perfect! The tone was stellar, they held their tune just fine, and they felt great. I was really impressed!

So go ahead and send me that contract, Mike. I'm ready to endorse them! Wink

I need 4 pics of you in action..they can be old or new, they are for the cover, then I'll create text over a 4 pic collage...

the other details on the financials, endorsements, and other matters can be handled easily.
imagine ...affordable strings normally not thought of as a good string that have been approved for tremolo use or abuse for less than 20.00 a pack by one of the most abusive trem users in 20 years.

SIT strings@30.00 a pack -vs- HavenLights@12.95?

wait till Andy see this...lol.
