yep believe it or not, our guitar player gave us the last straw on Saturday night.

He decided to go to a party in the afternoon, nothing wrong with that. We told him to be at my house to pack up by 5pm...he never showed. We called him several times around 6 when we left my house..never called back.

We got to the show and was setting up the PA. our singer gets a text he is "in route"..ok so we dont go on till 1030pm so who cares...

9 o clock rolls around and we get a phonecall from some other phone number "my battery died so I'm calling you from a friends house I'll be there shortly just waiting on a cab"...ok still enough time to get to the show by 1030.

1030pm rolls around and nothing WTF do we do now?

11:00 and nothing, we asked our friends in the band to jam some more..they say sure... he calls again and says he is in "overbrook", which is close to my house, so I was the idiot who said I'll go get him.

I flew over to my house , got there around 1120 and called him and He then tells me he is somewhere else which is like 1/2 hour from my house.

I called the band back and they told me to f'ing leave him wherever he is and hurry back, so I did. ( IF I would have gone to where he was it would have been 1230am by the time we got back and we would have not been able to play ).

I got back at around midnight, we asked the guitarplayer from our friends band how many songs he knew..he did some with us, we did as many songs as we could as a 4 piece, and it worked out. the owner of the club was impressed we didn't cancel, and gave us our full pay, and we gave the guitarplayer from the other band 50 bucks extra beyond the band money he got for his band for helping us out.

needless to say that retarded jerk of ours blamed me for not coming to pick him up , and naturally he was fired on the spot ( or on the phone ). He lost 4 great friends and a good band to be in.

so for our 2 gigs coming up we will re-arrange the set for 4 piece and go for it unless a miracle happens from our ad on CL this week...

sometimes I think I'm too old for this sheat....

Bummer, Dude. Been there, done that myself.

And no, you are not too old for this. Just pick yourselves up, dust off, and move on.

yep the dust is blown off, and we are jamming on Wed to re-arrange the songs.

I'll post some more pics of us jamming as soon as our singer takes them out of his camera, but here'sone of me and the guitarplayer from the other band Smile

I actually had no band drama as a teen cause I didn't get started till the mid 80's, like 5-6 years after highschool Smile

our singers wife caught me on video singing some nonsense while the first band ( blues band ) was warming up cause everyone was chicken for a sound check beyond the "check 123 BS" and we needed a full band sound level, so I did some BS blues of my own, and although I won't post the whole thing because it is embarrassing as hell, I'll throw a piece of it on youtube, and toss it in the video section as soon as I get the file in my computer.

the original coin of the monager "madmike" was by a long time friend that i met while undergoing psychiatric treatment in a lockdown facility (i broke my brain with too much of this and that and i thought "they" were following me ... but thats another story). i'm still friends with betsy ... but i haddent seen her in an age. anyhow, i was straight out mad and out of my mind and the name just kinda stuck.

since, its stuck because of my reactions to similar behaviors of your guitarist, from many, many, many knuckleheads i've dealt with since, lately, and it seems like for ever more. people tell me i shud be more patient with people and try to have more acceptance ... and they are right and i try the best i can ... but when i get avalanced by a barrage of dumb-dumbs on a regular basis, its more than any person can bear. regularly ... i loose it on the next lucky person who does the next dumb thing to me. my bandmates think its funny when i flip my whig on someone ... until its them. usually its me calling the vocalist who didnt show up for their scheduled audition.

now, i dont like it when i loose it like that. i usually feel out of control of my life, feel bad for the other person and usually feel like i need to apologize or make ammends. sometimes i do ... sometimes .... i go here .......

i hate to say but in seeking some relief, i have found some salvation in the verbatum, cant beat em (i mean literally), join em and my overall attitude just becomes "i dont care!" and my drive becomes reduced to soggy cardboard. i try to avoid this but ... thanks a lot dumb - dumbs.

oh yeah ... the point ...........

what was up with this guy mike??? he knew he had a gig. just a blatant disregard for any commitment whatsoever ... and then a run around to boot! seems to me from the way you stated it, viewed in the perception of my experience ... this guy was doing something other than going to a "party" with a few friends, having a few beers and being social.

a friend of mine always tells me when i cant figure someone out ... if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ... i'll bet you its a duck.

quack.

your better off without him. i woulda gone supremo MADMIKE on him. they would never find my boot ever again (wedged so far in his ***).

... and raise your standards a bit. you deserve to work with better musicians.

wow Mike I didn't know your online tonight...

to borrow from your sigline:

we have the ability ... we can rebuild.

no not a jerk, just an unfortunate incident that has been multiplying in his life with no job, no car or license from 2 DUI's, a person who will never admit they have a problem...I have known him and his family for 10 years, and his drug and alcohol abuse problem has only got worse ( at 25 years old ).

so for us, this was the final straw for someone to think it is that important to go get wasted at a free beer party during the day and not think of the consequences of "hoping" your that important that you can make 1 phonecall and get someone to lick your boots to get to the gig <<< you cant swear here --hahaha

and naturally "all my friends abandoned me", and "even my own mother wouldnt ride me to the gig", and "I called a cab at 830 and it's 2 hours later and nothing"...the list goes on but I had a blast playing with a stranger, and we just turned it into a end-of-night get drunk band party, with audience participation
