So I sold the Behringer V-Amp guitar preamp that I was using for my distortion channel, since it didn't have quite the sound I like. Here I am, trolling on eBay, trying to round up a good replacement preamp, going over in my mind about how best to obtain the distortion sound, blah, blah, blah....then....a thought occurred to me....and it was so bloody obvious that I immediately felt like a complete moron.
OK. Ya'll know how I preach about running two signals from the bass to devote the full whack of my pickups towards each signal. Well....I suddenly realized that my remaining Behringer V-Amp bass preamp is....are you sitting down? A
stereo preamp, complete with separate loops for each channel. Soooo....I started thinking (everybody run for your lives!
) ....my X2N-7 is nuclear loud and powerful....what if I ran the V-Amp in stereo mode....ran a standard hot overdrive/distortion through one side into my QSC into my 1x15....while the other side is kept clean while running into the other side of my QSC into my 2x15? I am thinking that my X2N-7 is powerful enough to overcome any signal degradation in splitting the signal, plus it would be boosted by the stereo preamp-into-power-amp setup.
If this does work, then this would mean that I could go back to running a single cord. This would also mean that I would have to invest in only one wireless, instead of two.
Any thoughts or suggestions, my BTF brethren?
Speaking of hot pickups, you Guys might be surprised to learn that the tone and distortion that Andy got on our tune
Up Yours is simply his custom seven-string running into his Marshall
without distortion. The pickup is so bloody hot, that it easily pushes his amp into screaming overdrive with ease. Know how much we love the X2N with it's 14K of impedance? Andy's custom, hand-made pickup for his seven-string is....get this....18K!
