if my past family life was a lot different I might have had/have something like that rig and bass.
but I don't really look at it like that.
He has a 8x10, so do I

Well... It's not every day you are browsing a forum and come across a picture of your self and find people discussing you haha.
I've been browsing this awesome forum for awhile but never registered since I get my tremolo from bending the neck... didn't feel like I'd be welcome here haha

I've since added a Yamaha Attitude LTD3 to my arsenal

It doesn't really matter if you use a trem or not here. It might be the primary reason for the board, but All are welcome here.

Besides, the fact that you get your bends by bending the neck makes you part of the fold anyways.

With your rig, and by the description of your playing, I am guessing you must be quite the ripper on bass! Any videos of you playing?

I do have a bass with a Hipshot Tremolo on it...
It's a Rickenbacker 4001. It's pretty much my biggest regret and mark of shame bass wise.
I was younger and alot more dumb at the time and had a luthier widen the body of the bass as it was too thin to for the Hipshot.
I ended up playing one gig it on before I got my first Attitude and realized Rickenbackers just aren't for me...
Now, it sits in a case doing nothing since I no longer want to play it and no one would be want to buy it in its defiled state...
If my house ever catches fire, I'm gonna leave it in the blaze to cleanse myself of this shame!

I'm a lefty, thank god Kahler was smart and put 2 holes in the cam....lol

Adding a trem to a bass is nothing to be ashamed of if you ask me and the other guys here on the forum!

If you regret it so much perhaps you can sell it to someone around here on the forum.

At least show us some pictures
We see more kahlers then hipshots around here and I'm sure the pictures are interesting to see some details about the installation!

sure you're welcome here ... because we like attitude LTD's, and anything that isnt standard military issue or ordinary. playing an attitude, i'm sure you get it.

i built this LTD from a yammi M-plus last year .......



and the ric ......

widen ... the body .... what???? me, i've never installed a hipshot (kahlers are just less routing) and i dont think i've ever played one that was installed correctly. that and most cats i've met that call themselves "luthiers", i dont feel i can trust to run down and pick up my lunch ... thus the reason i learned to do this stuff myself.

big gigantic hole in a ric for a hipshot that may or may not work properly that you dont play? i'm curious about what kinda ric it is, shape, see some pics and what you would want for it. i've always wanted a ric but that price tag is stupid too much. i've plugged huge holes in bodies before and with a solid color finish can make it un noticeable. i wouldnt want the hipshot so you could sell that on fleabay or whatever .............. i'm always up for trades. lemme know.

Putting the tremolo on the bass isn't what I'm ashamed of...
Modifying a vintage bass beyond repair witch I'II never play again IS what I'm ashamed of haha.

It doesn't really make sense to sell it, I'II never get what I put in to it.
I messed around with the electronics too but I still have it all around.

all basses have the "lost money just driving it off the lot" thing.

i could also repair it for you ... if you are willing. BTF'ers get the family discount (usually just pay it forward ... but i'de need to see it).

I agree with what Everyone has said here, Al. Don't beat yourself up too badly. We've all done things like that before.

And I went ahead and re-sized your pictures so they would be a little more forum-friendly.

My first kahler install ibanez body went in the trash. The install was fine. The bass was just beat and not worth fixing up.

My 3rd install p bass is still up in my shop rafters. Too many pickup config routes. Theres hardly any wood left!

Now now, Mike. I heard from Martin about a week or so ago. He's just been tied-up with school, and he hasn't had much time for bass activities.

That being said, I might have to kill his moderator function here. But he did say "hi" to Everyone here.

Al, I had NO idea that newbies couldn't post videos for the first seven days here. I scoured my admin panel, but I can't find the toggle to switch this off. Sorry! I'm not the smartest tool in the box, ya know? Much of this internet stuff is plain dumb luck, I will confess!
