is that the normal diving range of kahlers if regularly routed? how many steps is that? I asked about this on the old forum. Apparently, regularly routed kahlers can dive well over an octave, though I guess the exact amount depends on string gauge, etc.

| Yeah the string gauge changes things a lot. I can get maybe a step of pull up on mine, but John Gallagher can get much more than that because he uses tiny "rubber bands". You can set the tension differently to grant a little more drop, ensure the strings slide smoothly around the headstock, bend the trem arm back, and use lighter strings to get greater drop and better action with the trem. | |

Cool dude! Mine, you can't hear quite clearly, but its ove an octave, I know it goes far below lob B, because I've acually tuned those strings to B, to see the tension, and its far higher than the Kahler drops. Also, hooked up to a tuner, they go below the range of notes it can read.

They're an old model he dosen't make anymore, called OBL's. As in Original Bill Lawerence, I got them from a shop in Germany, that is owned by a friend of his, who used to make pickups with him a few decades ago(when he was starting out, IIRC). I was there on holiday(bought a bass, of course ), and asked had they EMGs, which they didn't, but they said they might have something I'd be interested in, and pulled an old drawer out of a corner, and dropped it in front of me, brimming with these Bill Lawerence pickups, I nearly keeled over.......

| Mike brown makes the most beautiful basses.
He changed the name! BGF. I like it.
He was the only person, besides us here, that helped me learn how to install a kahler. Very, very, very nice guy.
Hard to see in the vid, but notice how the kahler is recessed into the top.
I need a better looping station.
