I am feeling really great about the Seahawks taking down the Rams to advance to the playoffs. Still, with their record being the lowest of any team post-season (7-9), it will take a miracle for them to get through the next round. The Saints (11-5....yikes!) are a tough team to beat. But I will remain hopeful.
Hasselbeck is not in the best of health, and I think Whitehurst would do a much better job at QB. Our news stations are all buzzing about who will be in the game, and no one seems to really know yet.
Now, this is NOT a slam against any team, but did anyone expect the Lions to end their season the same as the Cowboys did? A 6-10 record for each? I also thought that the Redskins would fair better than they did since McNabb is a great QB (that is, when he is ON his game), but even they ended at 6-10.
And what happened to the Panthers? I still cannot believe they ended the season at 2-14.
The Vikings? Well....I can't say that I'm too broken up over the end of their season, but only because I think Brett Favre has been acting like a complete idiot. I have a real problem with celebrities taking advantage of their status, and even more so, assuming that they can take advantage of their status.
I was happy that my old team the Raiders ended with a .500 record....and especially happy that neither the Broncos or the Chargers moved on.
OK....maybe that was a bit of a slam against those two teams! But if Anyone here is a fan, I don't mean it against you! Sorry! It comes from being a Raider fan, and the AFC West match-ups.
That being said, I was more than happy to see the Bucs get knocked out, as I have never gotten over when they annihilated the Raiders In Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003. No one on Earth can convince me that it was due to anything else but John Gruden having been the Raiders coach from 1998 to 2001, and educating his defense on Raider's QB Rich Gannon's play calls. The Raiders ended the regular season at 11-5, and the Bucs at 12-4....and the Raiders got slaughtered. Yeah, yeah....I know....no one could have predicted it was going to be Oakland and Tampa Bay, but still, there was clearly an advantage for the Bucs since Gannon could hardly get any plays off.
The Patriots. Hmmm....well, I do think they deserve to be where they are now, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they won the Super Bowl. But I was taken aback a bit seeing Tom Brady on the sidelines literally screaming at his teammates whenever a mistake occurred.
The Dolphins, Ravens, and Bears have all been pleasant surprises, as I did not expect any of them to do as well as they did this year.
OK....if You haven't figured it out, I love football.

They played like a Super Bowl team. Great thing about football, you never know. The play offs are typically the best football of the year.

Guys, I can honestly say that nobody here expected Seattle to beat New Orleans, and as it was, it was anything but a slaughter. 41-36 is a really close score, and we got lucky with this one. Next Saturday will be playing Chicago, and we expect another really tough game.
I think you're right, BD. My prediction is that it will be the Falcons and the Steelers in the Super Bowl. But if the Seahawks do manage to make it all the way, I think the entire Puget Sound region here will fall into the ocean just out of sheer surprise!

The Bears are too inconsistent. It would be amazing if Seattle went all the way. I don't know if anyone can beat the Patriots.

Like you said BD, it's anyone's guess at this point.
No shocker that the Bears took out the Seahawks, but I remained hopeful throughout. On to next year!
And yes! I also was surprised that the Jets took out the Patriots! Who saw that coming?

Wow BD! You've witnessed some real history there!
I will admit that I haven't been to a lot of major sporting events, with only one football game and one hockey game, both of which were pre-season games. But they were a lot of fun, although I do hear what you are saying about being at home instead of sitting outside freezing your tuckus off.
Now concerts are a whole different animal. I don't even remember how many shows I've been to. I have every ticket stub from every show I've been to, and I still go through the collection and go "oh THAT'S right! I DID see so-and-so!" I absolutely do NOT want to go through the list here! It's much, much worse with the live shows I've gigged since the number exceeded 2,000 live gigs sometime around 2005, so I stopped counting. I don't even try to remember all of the places, since most of it is a blur anyways.
OK....confession time (with sincere apologies to any Bears fans here). I will admit that part of me hopes the Packers will slaughter the Bears, since Chicago knocked out Seattle. But then again, if Chicago won the Super Bowl, then we could say it took the best team in the league to take out the Seahawks. Kind of like what I told myself when the Chicago Blackhawks took out the San Jose Sharks, then went on to win the Stanley Cup. Not that this made me feel any better.
So, does anyone else here feel as I do about the Pro Bowl, in that it's a case of "why bother?"

Just got done watching the Pro Bowl.
Sheesh.
What an absolute waste of time.
It's like they don't even try.
Hardly a worthy substitute for a real game.
Bring on the Super Bowl!
Then afterwards, the long, dark off-season.
No football for seven months....assuming there even is a start to the games with the whole walk-out threat looming.

You can't turn over the ball 3 times and expect to win a superbowl. At least it wasn't a blowout.
