PostSubject: November 2010 and the gear hunt continues   November 2010 and the gear hunt continues EmptyThu Nov 04, 2010 6:32 am

so Eric bought a new unit which I think is now fantastic looking and he should have years of happiness from it.

maybe I'll have the same luck?

here's a GSR200 active for 100 bucks:
November 2010 and the gear hunt continues B6PhFrgmkKGrHqZh0EycQkIBkTBMww2WqHDw_12

and here's a series10 p/JJ for 65.00:

the only reason I bought the series10 is it is the companion copy to the guitar unit I already have, and since it was cheap, I thought it would be a "cool pair"

here's the guitar companion to the series10 bass....too bad they didn't add the fin inlays to the bass, but if i really wanted to, I could add stickers someday.

Ey pretty swell. The preamp on the GSRs has some real kick to it! A friend's is lying around here and I fiddled on it a bit around the time I stopped playing. Pretty gnarly output and tone.

yep Martin, SD dualrail like they used in the Fusion (and my Eliminator) according to the seller he bought his 3b with it already in it and he took the whole mess out for EMG's and kept the toggle switch or it would be part of the package, but that's ok cause I'm gonna use a blend knob anyway.

So it looks like one of the Chinese pre's will probably go in the new series10 lefty bass I have coming soon Smile Since it's a p- JJ, it will probably get the jackson HB and the jackson pre and the dualrail will go in my pink lefty charvel.

I'll send it this week. just PM me your address.

I decided not to mess with the pink lefty with a kahler afterall, and I'm glad because the series10 lefty may be the guineapig for it, and would probably look 100% better because it is black not pink and if not, I'll post it on ebay for 100 bucks after I ask you all if you all want it if I go that route.
so between that series10, the GSR200, and the Kramer ZX70, I'm done buying basses for the month....
however, there is a stone finish Jacskon Concert 4stringer on MGR this week for 150 bucks..and darn I can't eat ramen noodles for 2 weeks, so it's up for grabs.
( figures huh)....sheesh Sad Sad
there is also a Charvel Fusion-4, and a Kramer Forum3 ( mislabeled as a focus ) both for under 250.00
christmas is coming, and you can be sure that a ton of guitars/basses will be flooding ebay in the next 2-4 weeks.

just a little review on the Ibanez GSR200FML:
superclean, I think they stopped making them in 2009? none of the popular online stores have them for sale anymore and this thing looks like it was never played..

the VVT setup is messed up. if you turn the p on full - fine, if you turn both on full, fine. if you turn off the p the j will not come on at all unless the p vol is up at least 1/2 way.

no matter, that junk is coming out and I'm tossing one of the Chinese pres in it...why not just rewire it you say?

the phat-II is total MUSE distorted junk..turned off it is clean, tone is great, but turn that knob up past 1/8, and it tosses in mids and distortion that even Wolfenhausen ( or whatever his name is ), would be proud of...but for me, that tone SUCKS!!!

my singer was laughing at me struggling with the strings ( e on top ), but I demo'ed it enough to put it away for now and flip the nut/strings whenever. I have a show tonight so I won't use it, but next week ---oh ya I will have it together by then and jam it. ( agathis body = VERY LIGHT )

the series10 has not arrived yet, but it will also get preampped since I bought that other jackson pre, and when Mike sends me his old agular, I'll try that in my white Charvel and compare to the chinese pre that is in it now.

my point was for a 300.00 Ibanez when new, and me getting this one for 100, I made a good choice and got a unit that won't sit on the shelf.

shame they never put a model# on it because the seller thought it was an N427 and had it listed wrong....
according to the serial on the site, it is a 2008 Feb and the unit is #56155.

Granted, you hate that tone, but you've peaked my curiosity, Mike. Who is this Wolfenhausen guy?

I spelled it wrong
Christopher Wolstenholme and his distorted effect trademark.

If the pickups are really hot ( didnt measure them yet ), then that pre is just overloading and cheap...remember this is the somewhat entrylevel unit.

i'll bet the maple veneer is .000000000002 thick--lol

if I can sell a couple of my basses on ebay.

a friend from TB asked me if he should buy this unit months ago...he did, but now like everyone he saw a bass he want's more and is now gonna sell it to me. I told him I can't just toss off the cash unless I sell a bass or 2, and he is gonna wait a month until he starts "advertising it"

here is a Jackson Futura I NEVER saw before, and cannot find any info on it at all....

neck that says crafted in India, string thru like a KIP Winger but without the Kahler bridge, EMG'ed with a battery box on the back...

I would be the 3rd owner, and if this is a fabulous fake, he said he couldn't tell from his other Jacksons....

yes Eric very unique and pretty, but according to the Jackson guru's, it is not a Jackson, just a copy. ( I had my blinders on since your right it is pretty ), but the seller wants Jackson price for a copy, and I told him no. He was also surprised when I gave him all the "check this and that if it's real it will have... " speech, and he now knows it is not real as well. ( biggest indicator was no serial# stamped in the last fret on the board, perfect CNC'ed holes for the pups, bat cover, wrong bridge, and Jackson never had necks that said "crafted in India". )

he told me the person who he bought it off of said "his bro worked at jackson when fender took over and he assembled it himself"
not a chance in hell !!! as I explained employees would not just put together a parts bass from parts not available on the shelf USA/MIJ/MIK or MIC.

he's not bummed I found all this out in fact he was happy, but I told him I would only buy it CHEAP being a copy, and he said he'd rather keep it.

Interesting! So the whole thing is a bootleg? I hear what you are saying about the indicators, but is it at all possible that the neck and tuners are Jackson, and the body is someones personal creation? Because, if it is totally bogus, then whoever made the neck and tuning keys went through a lot of trouble to copy the logo. Still, I have seen many bootlegged name brands before complete with logos, so it wouldn't surprise me all that much.

yep bootleg, as nice as it is because jackson never had a company in India make necks for them ever...... and yes the chinese are also getting bold putting made in USA stickers on all their stuff, only a real connesuier would know its fake.

if it was a lefty, i would not care who made it and would buy it to play so it wouldn't matter, but for the collection...naw Sad.

well Thursday was Thanksgiving and a free day off to noodle around in the garage. I put together that GSR200.
it now has the Barden-J, Jackson bridge and j2000 pre in it. -- it's a for sure keeper with a HB tone out of the J and no buzz whatsoever. cheers

it makes me laugh that the pickup is as expensive as what I paid for the whole bass.
the top 2 knobs are vol/pan, and for now I'll leave it alone but this weekend I have to take the foam out from under the Barden, it sits too close to the strings and is like 3 times louder than the p.
