Jesus. That makes me want to quit bass. And the funny thing is, I see it every other weekend during my lessons.

eww another cheap bass where all you can hear is string click and clank live ---
he is so good at thumb playing I guess if I was used to the E on top, I'd be the same way, but till the day I die, fast --eh, don't impress me too much considering when I put on a beat and I'm noodling, it sounds something like this:

He is so sick. I liked that jam of yours too mike, 2 different styles tho. haha
I can do the right hand stuff, but only with my thumb and index. He normally does it with his thumb, index, middle and ring... he can use his pinkey when he wants to do it fast.

Mike, i can't quite make out what you're playing at :25 seconds in but it sounds interesting, any pointers as to what you're playing ( i know you view tabs as the antithesis of society )

the middle part is just 2 simple chords 1-3-5 just played incredibly fast one note at a time in succession to make it sound like sweeping.
most sweep chords are 1-3-5-7, but at that moment in time, I wasnt thinking, just noodling, and the Epi-Tbird side was done later to see if I could remember something not planned out..I did

ugg ... i just did the math. 40 minus 16 makes 24.
minus the 6 years i was living in the gutter and never touched a bass.
anyhow ... i watch this cat and i understand why you think he's a great bassist. he's good ... but i believe he's no better than anyone here. i really believe the only thing thats keeping any of us from being claypool, sheehan or some jazz virtuoso is our own mental blocks and that we just haddent put the practice time in yet.
your that good too ... possibly better. you just havent figured that out yet.

I agree. It isn't about the number of years logged, but more about what you do with them. The main thing is to be be happy with what you lay to tape (or digital in this age). I can say for myself that I know I still have a lot to learn, but that I am also happy with the sounds I am producing now. You will never get to where you can say to yourself "I now know everything". Nope. It's simply not going to happen. And if it does, than it's just an over-inflated ego talking, because you never stop learning. Like the old saying goes, "it isn't about the destination, but about the journey".
Just keep on keepin' on.
