| OK, I've never been a big fan of Nirvana (at all...), but today (actually, more like 30 minutes ago) I decided to learn the guitar part to Smells Like Teen Spirit on bass, correct octaves, chords, solo and everything. Its actually going better than expected. I need to learn the solo, and the main riff needs a bit of work, but other than that I've got it down. I could even record myself playing along to the original, if you want. | |

| Heck, I'm all for learning guitar parts on bass. I think it can expand your overall knowledge of bass technique if used properly. | |

| I've tried doing this with some other songs (Kick out the Jams by the MC5 and Bang a Gong (Get it On) by T Rex). I mentioned my idea to my band's guitarist, he thought it was hilarious. Then I said he should put some really heavy gauge strings on his guitar, then tune down an octave and do the bass part. He thought that was even better. I actually think we should do this. | |
