Hi from London, England.

I have a Guild Pilot with Kahler Tremolo. It's my only bass with a tremolo. Didn't realize what fun tremolos were until i bought this!

Heck yeah they are. Wouldnt have at least one at any given time.

Guild pilot ... oooh. When you figure it out, post some pics please.

How is the trem install? Kahler i assume? Intonation? Action?

Welcome to BTF.

Greetings, SpaceFunk! Welcome to BTF! cheers

I gotta say that those Guild Pilots are something else. I've jammed on a few, and I always thought they were incredible basses to play on. And with the string paths being straight along the headstock, they make great trem basses.

Thanks. The Guild Pilot with trem is a pretty rare thing over this side of the pond. You certainly don't see many of them about so when i saw this i bought it straight away. Good price too compared to what other USA built guitars of this period go for.

I think that Guild once offered the Pilot basses with the Kahler option at one time, but this might have been during the late 80's/early 90's?

At any rate, that is one fine piece you have there! Wink

Thanks Eric. My Pilot was made in 1984 and it seems that the Kahler Tremolo was on it from new. It's a nice bass with a lovely neck and i doubt there are many of these around good old London Town!

I remember picking up a fretless Pilot that was in a music store I went to about ten years ago. It was the exact same shape and yours, only this one was blue. I started popping and slapping on it, and the guy behind the counter practically leaped over it screaming "DON'T SLAP ON THAT BASS!!! YOU'LL DENT THE WOOD!!!" Laughing

Exactly the same happened to me recently Eric!

The guy rushed towards me when he heard the sound of me slapping on his Fender fretless Jazz and told me:"Slapping on a fretless is buying a fretless in my store."

I just grinned towards him and said:"Okay"
While I thaught:"Buying it? I don't even have enough money to buy a new strap for a bass Razz "

the only time I got that reaction was when I used to go in and play the righty basses flipped over. the clerks thought I was a hack just wanting to damage the units till I actually played something fantastic...
