Nikki does own a Thunderbird bass with a Kahler, and I remember seeing pictures of him with it back in the mid-80's. A few years later, I saw that same bass with the arm removed, and some sort of handle bar bolted along the top of the frame. This led me to believe that Nikki no longer wanted to use the trem. Furthermore, I suspect this modification was the inspiration for the Opti-grab handle featured on his signature line of Thunderbird basses.
You can actually hear it in use during the very end of Motley Crue's cover of the old Brownsville Station tune Smokin' In The Boys Room, when Nikki does a short bass part that ends with him doing a slight chord drop.

Shark (Andre) from Talkbass bought a Jackson CS Thunderbird with a Kahler trem on it that used to belong to Nikki. It was Craigslisted from West Seattle, too, which I thought was interesting...

Wow. Cool deal!
I do like some Motley Crue tunes, and Nikki is actually a really solid player. He also got some wicked deep tones!

I believe Amimbari posted some photos of it somewhere not too long ago.
I never got into Motley Crue that much. Don't know why.

I always thought they were always sort of straddling the line between glam rock and Metal. But every time I hear the droning intro to Dr. Feelgood, my adrenalin starts flowing!
And I used to cover a few of their tunes from the first album.

What do they have to do with Motley Crue? Sorry...
I agree entirely. It's weird...one moment I'll be listening to Gorgoroth and Cannibal Corpse, the next Loverby and Motley Crue. Hey, it's all good. Just a little different. And I swear Motley Crue will survive armageddon...along with the Rolling Stones.

You are simply expanding your horizons, Martin.
I have found that it's a good thing to at least try to listen to things that you might not ordinarily find appealing. There's always something new to be learned, and you find new things in the most unexpected of places.

That's exactly why I went and checked out everything we've been talking about.
