| Believe it or not, Scott Smith of Loverboy was indeed an early Kahler endorser. I have never found any images of him with any Kahlerized bass, but I do recall seeing his name in a Kahler ad that listed famous users. Tragically, Scott died in November of 2000 during a boat trip near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco when he was swept overboard by a large wave. His body was never found. Scott was only 45 when he died. | |

| I've never heard of him before. I've heard of Loverboy, but not much else.
Neat bass he has there. Spector?

| It is indeed. In fact, the image came from a site devoted to Spector users. | |

Looks like an NS-2 and, based on the time period, probably a Kramer-era Spector (which, despite the fact that Spector were owned by a much larger parent company, were quite good from what I've heard, unlike the cheap s*** Gibson/Musicyo have been churning out)

| Probably correct, KS. The time period would be about right, since I believe the image is from the mid-to-late 80's when Spector was tied to Kramer.
I did some Loverboy tunes in cover bands back in the day, and even though Scott Smith didn't do anything really technical, he did the job of holding the foundation down well. He also had some really great bass tones as I recall.

| Huh. I'll have to check them out sometime. Spectors are such awesome instruments, just not really for me. The one I've liked the most was a 4 string Euro LX. Talk about pretty! | |

| You're right...he does have a sick sound, man! They're pretty cool. Very cornball, but pretty cool | |

| A lot of the 80's was cornball! But there are a lot of really great things to be learned from it all, and in spite of the fact that we all dressed like women, there was a lot of great music from that time period, even from bands that might not be obvious. Yeah, Loverboy had some image issues, but they did make some great tunes. And their guitarist Paul Dean was/is severely underrated as a player. | |
