8.9 earthquake and tsunami in Japan

I am completely stunned and shocked by what is happening in Japan right now. Our hearts go out to those that have lost their lives as well as their loved ones.

We did receive a tsunami advisory here in Northern Washington, but all we have seen are some slightly higher waves that haven't caused any damage. But along the coast of Oregon and California, it's a different story. Crescent City CA experienced severe damage along their coast, with several boats being tossed about. One man died while trying to capture the waves on video, and was swept out to sea. Our old stomping grounds of Santa Cruz CA also saw a lot of damage to their boat harbor, with several boats breaking loose from their moorings, and smashing into each other.

It is heartbreaking to see death and destruction on such a massive scale.

I agree. When nature cuts loose it's a very frightening force...
