hi, im a new one here. my name is irving, i live in mexico and i play in 3 bands currently. i just recieved (today) my 4 string kahler tremolo, i wanna place it on a ibanez srx BK, i made it fretless, so im pretty interested in bass tremolos, but i have 0 experience and i think this is a good place to learn. Cool my first question is how to install the tremolo and not having out of tune problems but i guess i should post'em in the proper section.
cheers!!! farao

Greetings Irving! Welcome to BTF! cheers

This thread might be of help to you:

https://basstremfanatics.forumotion.net/t21-proper-installation-of-a-kahler-bass-tremolo

Feel free to ask any questions, as Everyone here is really helpful. The whole point of this place is to help you get started in using your bass trem to it's best advantage, and Everyone here has a lot of great advice as to how to get the most out of it. Cheers!

What's best?

Learn to do it yourself. I've been suprised how easy it is and how many luthiers take this job, for the money I guess, and don't install it correctly because they couldn't be bothered, think its silly or have no accountability for notching up your bass.

Just my experience.

If you find a tech/luthier who will do a good job ... awesome.

But its easy. In the PXR Custom thread there's pics of the last install I did. It took me 45 minutes.

Palm routers, $70 - $100. Dial calipers $30 - $50. Installation $0 ... plus you end up with some decent tools.

I've seen shops charge $150 - $200 to install a kahler ... and you don't know what your getting.
