being bored musically is a sin, so I increased the tempo using my time stretch which leaves the pitch alone. Pretty cool thing used for commercials and a whole lot more.
( made the old tired songs more fun to jam ! )

I enjoyed your tunes. Thanks for posting. Got to see GFR without Farner a couple years ago. Mel is great! You played it better than him. Haha!

and thanks. I took my main basses to our practice place, so I get to jam on the "junk" for a little while ---

Mike? Did you mean to post the version of Detriot Rock City as done by Racer X? Meaning, are you playing your bass the way Racer X did it, or are you referring to the background track itself? Because, as a diehard KISS fan, I can assure you that what is playing behind you is the original KISS version as it appears on the Destroyer album.

ya I kinda messed up and thought that the carcrash was from a cover of kiss, but no, so I'll bow out by saying....
yes that's what a racer-x bassline would be if racer-x would have covered it, because it's a little too busy for something Gene would have played.

Shoot, Mike....a bass line from Tiny Tim would have been busier than something Gene would have done!
Actually, that's quite sad to say, since Gene is quite the capable bassist. Yes Folks, it's true. Gene can play bass, guitar, drums, piano, and can sing as well. His problem (besides his ego) is that he doesn't think that being capable on your instrument means all that much. A pity, since I learned a lot from him. I mean, sure, it is more about the songs you write. But I still believe that this can also come from being a good technician on your instrument. It all depends on what you decide to do with it.
That being said, it was awfully cool to hear the original version of Detroit Rock City covered by you. I will be a diehard fan of the original KISS until the day I die, so any tribute to them rates extremely high in my book!

just like many others, he only played what was required..with a "show" like Kiss was famous for, there was no room for extreme bass playing ( or guitar leads for that matter )
I had found a couple very old videos on my computer that I may re-do this weekend since our band is not playing until the 14th...I'll post em when I get them on my vid-cam.

That's nothing to be embarassed about, Tek. I'll be a KISS fan for the rest of my days!

Um....well....as much as I will always love Ace, since he was the whole reason I even got into guitar in the first place, I can't say that Frehleys Comet has quite the same impact as KISS does. Don't get me wrong. It is good stuff....but it just isn't the same. Just as I don't pay attention to any incarnation of KISS that isn't the four original members. If it isn't Gene, Paul, Peter, and Ace, it isn't KISS. At least, in my book it isn't. Ace will always be my very first guitar hero, but I miss seeing him in the makeup with his guitar smoking to tunes like Makin' Love, Shock Me, and God Of Thunder. Yes, he isn't the technician that Eddie Van Halen is, but he didn't need to be. He is quite the capable lead guitarist, and anyone doubting this should get their hands on KISS Alive! and KISS Alive II.
I think I have one Frehley's Comet album laying around here somewhere, but I'm not sure where.
