Yeah Meshuggah! I think Straws Pulled At Random is my favorite song off of that album.
My favorite group is The Who. I also really dig Yes, Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Maiden, Priest...good stuff. hahaha As for metal, I've been really getting into Gamma Ray lately. My favorite super heavy band would have to be Enslaved. They blow me away--Blodhemn is one of my favorite albums.

Wow. I wasn't aware there were so many Scandinavian Folk Metal fans on here. I was going to +1 most of Jims post too, but I forgot

Yeah! Runes To My Memory!! I'm wearing an Amon Amarth t-shirt right now.
My favorite Enslaved albums are Blodhemn and Mardraum: Beyond The Within. They rock. I like the rest of their stuff, but not as much as those two. The rest of their music doesn't have the same frantic energy that those albums have. Enslaved fans seem to be pretty polarized between the really new stuff (more mellow and progressive) and the really old stuff (true lo-fi black metal), but I like the music from right in the middle the most. Blodhemn and Mardraum are the only two albums that really transcend any kind of genre, unlike their other music...I mean, it's obviously metal, but it's different. And that is what makes them so powerful to me. It's like nothing else I've ever heard. Grutle's vocals fit the music especially well on those two records.
I just listened to that Periphery track. I think you would like Enslaved's Monumension album, too. And check out I and ObZen by meshuggah if you haven't. I is a 21 minute long EP that's just one track.

Dang, there's too many bands to list! I like a good mixture of black, death, and avante-garde metal. But I also listen to a ton of electronic downtempo/acid jazz type of stuff (among many other genres).
For you folk metal fans, you should check the Russian group Arkona if you haven't already:

I've been dusting off my old Moody Blues albums and I forgot how much I loved all of them. Never too late to get back into the Moodies.

Hey just some stuff i've been listening to recently.
This is really really quite a freaky piece of soundtrack work, i was watching poirot on a day i was really bored and was absolutely stunned by the quality of the soundtrack.
This one is way different to the usual fare i'd listen to, but it actually blew my mind with the songwriting.

Tekken--I really like that track by Empress you posted on another tread. Gnarly bass!
And I've been a fan of Poirot for as long as I can remember. I think the soundtrack is brilliant...from the first note of the theme song, you're in the mood, you know?
I've never heard Camel before, but I really like that song. I'll have to investigate more of their stuff!
I wrote a review of Gamma Ray's latest album for a journalism assignment, which finally opened my ears to them. I can't believe I didn't listen to them more before now. Oh well, better late than never.

Man, I haven't seen that Camel "Breathless" LP cover for a long time and you have real good taste in music. That Summer Lightning tune is one of the all time greats.
Too many great groups, bands, soloists, bunches and whatever to throw out a list or name.

Camel was awesome! We had a few of their albums on vinyl back in the day, and an uncle of mine actually saw them in concert. A really great example of some killer 70's prog.
