| To inquire about being a sale representant! Did you ever feeled that you just wanted to work in something you love but not doing particuliar studies. I know that it seems crazy but if I can take that job I'll work full time, have a fairly good salary(Don't even know how much it is) and work in somthing I absolutely love: GEARS!
Sure, I would have to go to the US and then get a work permit and no longer have the advantages of living in Canada but, I would do what I love!
Just wanted to share.
P.S. I am really not sure about getting the job but hey, a man can dream!

| Do you think that your knowledge of French could give you some kind of advantage over someone else applying for the same position? It's worth mentioning... | |

| That sounds great, NB! You gotta follow your dreams! Just keep in mind that a move from Canada to the United States means that you lose your universal healthcare. Health insurance down here is all private, expensive....and it sucks! | |

| I'm very envious of the healthcare situation up north because I'm taking my first steps towards being an independent adult (yikes) and I'm having to start thinking about what I'm going to do about insurance and everything once I'm on my own. | |

It might. They ship to France, Switzerland, and Canada. French Canadians aren't a problem, because most Quebecois speak English very well, but having someone who is fluent in French might help with the first 2

... and ordering stuff from warmoth makes me real happy! How true, bro. I love living in America. I've lived in other places; I've visited many more, but here's where I'm going to stay. At least for a long time to come. And everything else aside, nothing feels quite like it here. And amen to doing something you love that brings you happiness and satisfaction beyond the paycheck. I'm probably not going to get rich being a stagehand, but theatre is a world that provides order in my life, fulfillment, and a chance to learn things I wouldn't learn anywhere else. - madmike wrote:

My thoughts exactly. Plus, language skills say a lot about you as a person. It takes organization, hard work, and focus to speak another language well and those are traits that employers tend to look for in employees.

I don't want to turn this into a political thread, but I feel compelled to point out that Canada has rock and roll, freedom of speech, unemployment compensation....AND universal healthcare. And to anyone who hears all of the horror stories about how terrible the Canadian system is, put all of that right out of your minds. Believe me on this one, folks. I live 8 miles from the border (in fact, I can clearly see from my house the lights from the Mt. Whistler Ski Resort where the Winter Olympics are now taking place) and know many Canadians personally. I can vouch for the fact that they would never vote to have a privatized healthcare system put into place. The fact is that they either pity us, or they laugh at us. It is a documented fact that we are the only fully-developed nation on this planet that does not have some form of universal care for it's citizens, and there are enough "free" nations of the world that do, so I don't buy this whole "we start to lose freedoms blahblahblah....government control blahblahblah....one more step towards communism...." crap. Yes, I love my country, but I don't always agree with how things are run, either. There is no reason, no justification, NO excuse for the single greatest power on Earth to not be able to provide some form of adequate healthcare for it's people. And as long as there are still a significant group of people....men, women AND children....that go without decent healthcare, education, employment, and housing in this, the United States of America, then the powers that be can take their precious privatized, overpriced, "it's the American way" insurance system, and SHOVE IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE!!!!Ok. Rant over.

| I must approve you Eric, in our side of the Canada, we a pity you about the health care system. I found that the Canadian is a very god system and a somewhat communist system, wich is good.
Hydro-Québec(or hydro whatever state) is the furnisher for all canadians.
Health insurance(the sun card) is the health insurance for everyone. But you can also have a supplementary insurance with your job that can cover teeth, glasses etc.
We have the working norms that is a chart that have the minimum wage, age and worker safety.
Gotta love my country but if I get a job outside it, I'll not make myself picky!

| political thread? too late.
the united states cant get a decent health care plan together because the free market is involved. the free market pays the large campaign contributions. the politicians like all that money to go to getting them re - elected ... detect a cycle here?
this cycle has been going on for so long, and government officials are so distracted with the cycle (and i'm not even mentioning the greed of illegal payouts and backscratching) that i dont think they are capable of establishing a healthcare plan that could ever be anything but ineffective.
i bust my hump for 40+ hours a week, and theres laws that require my employer to offer me some kind of healthcare plan ... but its been so free marketized that my company cant afford to offer me anything. i've just grown to accept it and hope and pray (and vote) that some politician, sometime, can do something to fix the system before i need it.
if not ... again; america is such a great country ... the phoenixville clinic is right down the street from me. its run by voulenteer doctors and nurses, financed by federal and local grants and private donations and askes for a donation of $40 for services regardless of the care they provide. they have hooked me up with funding to treat my diabetes and funding to have surgery on my hands. they have even hooked me up with dental work.
... why isnt the entire system like this?????????? entitlement.

| i think its because of the winter olympics being in cananda, and they were supposed to play the opening cerimonies and cancled by the olympic committee "because rock and roll in contrast to the luge death today is in bad taste", but rush has been getting a lot of airplay in our region of the country the last week. personally ... i found bryan adams in bad taste ... luge death or not. it is rumored that they will play the closing cerimonies. nice! ... i love rush. | |
