we've been looking forward to tonights gig for a few weeks now.

this is a big deal because croc rock is a big venue in allentown, pa that isnt in our regular rounds and hopfully will get us some new fans. plus, croc rock has nationally touring bands play there and is a real professional like gig.

the snow is supposed to start in our part of town around 4pm. is supposed to start at 5 up there. i'm looking at a one and a half hour drive, in the snow, on the turnpike, at rush hour. ugg.

positive note. the snow isnt supposed to get heavy untill 10pm up in allentown ... right when we go on stage. i've been promoting with the weather report link attached to try to convince people to not be wussies and come out anyway. "you live in pennsylvania, it snows here, get over it, come to the show."

its supposed to snow all day tomorrow, so if anyone is going to do anything this weekend, they need to do it fast, tonight, before the snow comes. no one is going anywhere tomorrow night.

overnight, the snow is supposed to accumulate from 8" to 10" the further south you go. i'll leave the gig with an inch or two on the ground and drive right into armageddon. hopefully i'll get home before it gets too bad.

good luck Mike, it's already snowing here as of 1pm, and we are not gonna get what you over there are, but they are saying 4-6 by tomorrow morning, and an additional 3-5 until 6pm sat SadSad

we have a retirement party to jam ( just me and the singer ) the retiree is a guitarplayer and his partner is a drummer...but that is from 1-3pm sat, and who knows...we also may be canceling as the snow just may be too much tomorrow for anyone to go out....

here's a CL ad from my friends who play in and around Pitts all the time :

I have a bunch of webcams that broadcast at my house hooked up to a DVR for the alarm and there's already about 2-3" on the street as of 4pm.

if your even slightly interested in checking it out just type 98.239.191.222 in your browser -- you have to use IE because firefox cant display the video Smile

Charvel 3B (neck through model series bass) in a crackle finish. A sick bass for sure. I have one just like it in very worn and beat up midnight blue. Nothing plays quite like a Charvel and they can be found for very cheap.

there's so much SNOW already at 1030pm that the cameras are still pretty bright just from the streetlight --haha
I'm just glad I'm not in eastern PA or DC cause they are doomed tonight and tomorrow with a lot more than we will get here.

and with the bass, Jackson Kramer ESP and a few others made that finish "it was an 80's thing", and I traded my black one with the Kahler for it BUT, that did not suck as I now have a gold 7410 to mount on something else.

since I'm home I took the customary pics, and chowder is only slightly correct, plenty of others that sound like it and those people would never buy a Jackson, but the nice necks are what I like and now I have a 86,87,and 88 finally and the bonus is the crackle which I have looked for on ebay for a long time with no luck..they only made em for 3 years and very few.

True the sound of the stock electronics is a little on the ho-hum side, but throw in your favorite shred pickups (DiMarzios, EMGs) and it'll rip.

yeah ... i dig the one in the middle too. not my color, but hella cool. wonder if next refinish i do i could do something like that in blue.

ok, we got to allentown fine. no one else did; bands or fans. we played to a room of 5 people. i gave them all a shirt and a cd for comming out. positive note ... we got all the take from the door since no one else played ... that covered the cost of the merch.

we played the elite room downstairs. its a venue managed separate from croc rock who focuses on nationally touring and large draw acts on the main stage. they get you playing down in the elite room to help you broaden your fanbase in allentown and do what they can to get you up to the mainstage. awesome! thats just what we need. since no bands showed up except for one other scheduled for upstairs, we were basicly playing to the croc rock management. we took advantage of the opportunity to show them that we're the band who shows up and delivers ... we did. we had a blast playing because it was a low stress gig ... we had fun ... and so did everyone chekking us out. management loved it and wanted to book us a whole buncha dates over the next few months and to get us headlining by summer. wow. i said "woah!" and got a bunch contact info so we could plan it all out and set it up right instead of making a buncha commitments we may drop the ball on. i dont wanna be that band.

the band who asked us to come out and open for them. they broke up yesterday. it was the vocalist who scheduled us in ... because he wanted to chek us out. him and i started talking and we're gonna get him out for an audition in the near future. he came up in topic of conversation with the croc rock management last night and they gave him great reviews ... as an entertainer and a good guy. after they heard us play they told us that he would fit right in to our band. kewl!

so it was a big success ... even tho mother nature tried to wreck it.

driving home sucked. i tried to pass a plow on the right on the highway. ha! i got lost in the snow wave. it was like i lost my driving equilibrium and went somewhere else for a minute. i slowed down and came out of it and just took my time the rest of the way home. i had to take 3 detours ... but i got home ok ... after 2 hours. i like driving in the snow and i'm good at it. what stinks is the other people who are out in it. why do people slow down when going up a snowy hill? are they trying to get stuck?

ya me 2 glad you made it because here we got about 18-22" total in the central city, the snow started here about 3pm and we had 6 on the ground by 6pm, the power went out in our neighborhood from fri about 11pm when there was about 8-10 on the ground and trees started snapping till tues at 5am, so I burned all my wood for heat, and went to a friends place. I'm back home now, shoveled out and ready for another damn 4-6 between this eve and tomorrow..lol

and no Mike, I would LOVE to have a blue-bodied NT, but I REALLY need to send one of my other bodies to you to paint blue and rout out the trem hole since we already know flat mount works. The crackle color is sick ( ugly ) to me to, but it is the rarity that said sure, I'll trade Smile

now a BLUE CRACKLE with silver streaks mixed in with it --hmmm ????

i've been meaning to get back to ibanez project for some time now, but buying this house has had things on hold for a bit ... only bass projects have been necessities for one of the main 3 basses or the rig. the ibanez has been sitting in a case up on the 3rd floor for months now (its up there crying Sad ).

i'de be all about working on a bass tremolo fanatics community project. i think it would be a great thing for those who participate and are trying to learn luthier techniques.

i think it would have to be something without attachment tho ... like the issue addressed to me with bobo's bass. he doesnt know me from a can of paint ... why would he trust that i would work on his bass and ship it back to him. it would have to be a pos bass that wouldnt be missed if the line of faith was broken ... or even worse, bass project gets botched and destroyed.

i'm gonna think about it and start a new thread ... i'm open for ideas.

but if you wanted me to work on one of your basses ... i'de be happy to, as long as its reasonable. i'm a professional graphic artist ... i'm an ameture luthier. installs / paint; yeah, sounds like fun.

My son is in Phili and he said last night they had close to a foot, closed school today. We had an 3.8 earth quake here in Chicago this morning. i was in the shower and I thought it was a snow plow scraping the street. The bottles of shampoo started rocking. The third midwest quake I have experienced.

That Crackle needs some TLC before I can truly play her....

snow is very scenic, makes the woods very quiet, and unfortunately unless your a kid and get to take off school for a week and play in it BUT not when you get 29 inches....

SO, IN KEEPING WITH THE TOPIC OF THE THREAD,

this s.u.x.

( mike BD and anyone else who has to live in an area that get's snow will not appreciate these as much as the non-snow members )
