| Subject: Discussions about faith and religion Sat Aug 29, 2009 3:18 pm | |
| I just wanted to remind everyone that since we come from different backgrounds and such, we should all be aware of the differences between discussing subjects vs. attacking them. No, there has not been any serious offense, so don't worry about that. I just wanted to clarify some points before anybody becomes bothered, since the subject of faith has come up, and it is an important one to many people. My attitude is live and let live. Sure, there are a lot of views that I don't embrace or agree with, but I also feel very strongly that everyone needs to decide what works best for themselves. It's like that old saying goes: "I might not agree with what you have to say, but I'll fight to the death to defend your right to say it". Obviously, this does not work for anyone wishing harm to anyone else, and that being the case, I don't want anyone here who does or does not belong to a church or faith group to feel any sort of personal attack. It goes both ways. One of the most important aspects of this site is that all members need to feel free to be who they are without fear of ridicule. At the same time, I will not allow anyone to push their beliefs, or lack of beliefs, on anyone else. I just want everyone to feel comfortable here, and also to be able to have discussions about Life without offending anyone else. I do welcome open discussion on such subjects, since this is how we all learn to understand each other better. Fear and mistrust stem from lack of understanding, and I honestly believe that the more we understand one another, the better we all get along. Okey-dokey? | |
