Subject: Awesome Talas Cover Thu Jul 16, 2009 1:59 am
I was trying to find a video of High Speed on Ice by Talas (want to learn it and no tabs available anywhere) and the second hit was this awesome video of some guy playing a cover of it, and thought it might be worth posting here for some reason. I feel like I've seen him before, but I can't put my finger on where...

oh B.R.O.T.H.E.R. another retard lefty who cant go and buy a REAL lefty bass...
ask Eric, he probably has a video from his past of him doing HighSpeed.
my frakkin camcorder focus beam was reflecting off the black, and constantly going out of focus...maybe this is now gonna be a candidate for a re-do
and just so you know, that video and many others were on the old board, anything you see on here is from the point where eric opened it, and I posted from that date on my youtube channel to present.

The LAST thing you will ever see from me is any covering of Billy Sheehan tunes! Not that I haven't wanted to, or wouldn't enjoy it now, but this goes back to that "pigeon-holing" thing. People expect me to do Sheehan's music because I'm known as "that Billy Sheehan player" (holds fingers down throat and retches). I mean, of course I can play High Speed On Ice, complete with all of the little squeaks and "Sheehan-isms", as well as a bunch of other Talas/David Lee Roth/Mr. Big tunes. But I have never played any of it in public, so the chances of me producing any audio or video of it are nil, thank The Gods!

And my post: Craig, how great it must be to "dance with the stars"...your carrear is phenomenal, as well as you playing with P.G. and the many other superstars and we love you for it... since you posted scarified if I may....
You probably never saw anyone playing Scarified inverted, and if you have let me know
I didn't "tap" out the middle runs, because they aren't that fast and I can actually play all the notes, if your wondering why I did not do a "perfectly executed" cover.
like you and so many others I made most of my playing carrear time back then jamming speedmetal to every damn hero I could worship, Including Alderete's fantastic bass work on all the songs Racer-X had to offer, as well as Malmsteen's basswork on a lot of his stuff he wrote for "others" to play live . Naturally starting slow, and working my way to what I can do now was not achieved in 3 months or even 3 years.
now-a-days, there is no such thing as "too fast" anymore, just more fun and challenging to figure out while I'm relaxing in the jamroom.
and his answer:
Amimbari,
I have never seen that one done inverted before! Hey, that's a cool bass too man! I love to watch lefty's play. Especially the way you and a few others I have seen play, with the G,D,A,E string arrangement. It looks so confusing to me, but it is cool to watch. I have seen some absolute monster players that play this way.
Thanks for all the kind words!
Craig

As long as we're sharing articles, here's one from the website gitarist.nl that talks about my old Van Halen tribute Hot For Teacher. In the fourth paragraph, the author makes a direct reference to me and my so-called "Billy Sheehan-esque" approach to the bass, obviously without my knowledge or blessing.
