Awesome! Welcome to the road NB!
I remember my very first gig well. It was a biker party in Redwood City CA, back in October of 1982. I was 16, and had been playing bass for only three months. The band was setup in a little room right in the middle of a house, and I had to stand out in the hallway to play. We did pretty good considering how green we all were!
And I still have the tape from my second gig which was done November of 1982 at a high school in San Jose CA during lunchtime. My cousin was going to the school at the time, and he brought his boombox to record it. We were all terribly nervous, and we tanked. I remember afterward thinking "man, I'm not sure if this is for me." But then about a month later we did our third gig at a nearby junior high school during lunch, and we actually got mobbed! I even have the tape from that show as well! And if that wasn't enough, Linda my Honey came with all of us when we did that show, and she remembers it well. We still laugh about it now!

I'll try to have someone tape the next gig. Maybe I'll even sing 2 or 3 song!!!

He is asking you how it went, meaning what was it like for you. Was it a good show for you?

We are a cover band, this show we did Paramore, Saosin and new found glory songs. (They are not my style )
But we had a critics say to us to do more French songs. And next gig we'll have 4 or 5 french songs.
Edit: we are not a ''true band'' we are more like a troop. There are dancers, percussionist( blue man group like but they arent blue and theyre just 15 years old ) and us.
So we do a variaty show.!

Actually, that sounds really cool! I love groups that show creativity, and do more than just something "normal". Any chance we'll see some video of you guys soon, NB?

i dont remember my first gig ... at all. its just a big blank.
thus prefering to get paid in cash and the ocasional flash of boobies and not alcohol. we dont always get cash. sometimes we dont remember the gig ... depending on the boobies!
"oh my goodness! put those things away!"
congrats on the successful gig.

wow...first gig..since I was playing in a practice space to an audience long before we ever got to the "bars" I guess the first REAL gig was a outdoor show in July4th weekend in 1986 in one of our city parks with like 15 other bands all day, and we had a 30 minute spot. no money, no boobies, no weed or alcohol, just hot as hell outdoor 80 something degrees playing out of my PLUSH 1060 2x15's and my LYLE SG looking bass.
heres a pic of me practicing singing in my room using that junk LYLE bass in Aug 2008 just for fun a couple days before I sold it. ( the novelty of "still" owning my first bass finally wore off )

well..it was junk that I made out of a guitar body and bass neck/2 saddle bridge...lol
guitar pickups/short scale dumpster bass neck that never fit right....and it still plays 25 years later rusty strings and all:
here is one of the final jams on it before it was sold from 6 months ago:

I was just about to say that.
I had a panic attack last week. Not fun ****. I feel for your guitarist, but when you're on stage, you kinda wanna get on with it, I can imagine.

Ah! Here is something I know a LOT about!
I am not the least bit ashamed to admit that I was clinically diagnosed with panic and anxiety disorder several years ago, and I have been on Zoloft once, and Prozac twice over the years. I first started having panic attacks when I was but a mere lad, and it was a few years until I learned what the hell was happening to me.
I am grateful that, after many years of research, and some therapy, I have learned to control my panic for the most part. I still do occasionally have a small attack once in a great while, but I have learned that it isn't anything that is going to hurt me, and that's it is just a feeling that will pass. So I completely sympathize with anyone who deals with this sort of thing.

I was crashing from a lot of things and I've been under a lot of stress. I'm kinda a nervous person, but it's something that you have to work with and around.

I used to smoke too much weed to panic about anything...I think a falling tree could destroy our house right in front of me, and I would just keep eating dinner....

Now, while having one of these panic attacks, how would you like to get punched in the face?

Also a dude I'm friends with was making moves on my girlfriend all night (we went to see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2C9vS8mx2c). Me and her had talked about it beforehand and we leave it up to her to tell him to sod off. A long day at work including lots of stress and out-of-tune children didn't help, nor did my day at school. Nor did a lack of sleep. Or the weekends leading up to that one.

I suppose it would depend on how severe the attack was, and what situation I was in at the time. If it were not a bad one, and I was in a safe place, the I probably wouldn't like it too much. But if it were really bad, and I was in danger, then it might do me some good by snapping me back to reality!
The only reason I can joke about it is because years of dealing with it have taught me that it really isn't anything to worry about. It's only a feeling, and just some of the cards I've been dealt in Life.

Honestly, I think its a low blow in an already **** situation. I'd have grown a pair, man'd up, and delt with the situation like an adult.

Getting punched in that state of mind would only increase the fight or flight impulse in me, you know? I'd probably totally lose it at that point.

It has been estimated that about eight million adults have ADHD in the United States.[30] Untreated adults with ADHD often have chaotic lifestyles, may appear to be disorganized and may rely on non-prescribed drugs and alcohol to get by <<< oh really??? I thought I did that stuff because I hate being straight 24-7. so now I HAVE an excuse
if I don't, I certainly have multiple personality disorder stereotyping a true "gemini" as I am...it shows in all my music. Some tunes mellow and quiet like a timid mouse, and some totally insane roaring like a lion.
and BD, thanks for the praise on the junk bass, it is gone forever. I sold it for 100 bucks so a guitarist could get the Demarzio's out of it, and toss the rest in the garbage...lol
