I found a thread about this on TalkBass...it kinda makes me smile.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=190303438565
The questions and answers at the bottom are PRICELESS!!!
"Is there a discount available for this guitar as it will only be possible to play 66.6% of notes normally available on a 6 string guitar?" Hey, a couple of years ago, I probably couldn't have told the difference, either...

| Awww! Now, now, Guys...be kind! She sounds like just some little 'ol country gal who happened to find a bass to sell, but obviously didn't know exactly what she had. Yeah, it's amusing, but let's face it. There are a lot of folks on the planet who don't have any idea what a bass guitar is. Hell, half of my more distant family still ask me to this day "so, you still playing guitar?" | |

| You're right Eric...we should be nice, but I think it's funny because everybody's found themselves in her place. For example, we had a performance the other week that was a group called the Kinsey Sicks. They're a quartet of men who dress in drag and have a mock musical TV talk show on stage called "Wake The F**k Up, America". It's kinda a political satire and awkward improv comedy thing with a bit of a showtunes-y twist...and with a very gay perpective. To the greater part of the audience, it was hilarious, but I didn't get a lick of it. There's a whole culture around me that I'm not aware of or in tune with. I'm completely oblivious to their history, identity, and colloquialisms in the same way that five years ago, I couldn't have told the difference between a bass and a guitar for the life of me. A bass would have been a "heavy guitar with 4 strings that's kinda big". I guess I have a bit of a wicked sense of humor and I am by no means exempt from it. I think we're all a little like that, especially in this forum | |

| everyone has ignorance in some area. i know nothing about the sport of lacrosse ... and working in the sports industry, i've looked dumb.
i was just stating that this individual was charming about it.
some people just get bent if they are called on it.
ok, ok ... the deliverance reference may have been a bit mean.

| not that ignorance "HELPS", but if you have something rare, and you dont' know it is rare, the price you set on ebay can be so low, it is a hell of a bargain if you are the buyer...
and if that neck fit into the pocket of my Scott JazzClone, I would love to have the maple with black blocks neck on it instead of the rosewood and pearloid blocks....

| It all boils down to doing some research before selling something online that you don't know much about. | |

some people just get bent if they are called on it. Well, that's why I figured I'd share this hahaha I think that being awkward is an interesting feeling...how people think about it and deal with it says a lot about them. And yeah you're right, amimbari! I'm pretty sure he's from around here...at least he visits Mike Lull's shop often.

| The funny/sad thing about this is that I would be willing to bet that there are a whole lot of musicians out there that have found her ad, and are having the exact same discussion as we are about it! | |

| Oh yeah, dude. I first found this on TalkBass...who knows how many times it's already been passed around. Gotta sterilize these threads before reading them...don't you know the risk of getting disease-ah? | |
