I saw this in an article about this in an issue of PopSci this morning. I believe it is one of mankind's greatest achievements

Not to be a cynic, but I'm not sure I see the point of doing this.
I mean, it's the oxygen that's providing the fuel for the burn, and as near as I can reckon, all the bacon and/or the cucumber are doing is channeling the flow of the gas. But does the bacon and/or cucumber add anything to the cutting and heating efficiency? Unless I'm overlooking something here, my guess is no.
Still, it is a fun video to watch!
And now I'm totally craving Italian antipasti after seeing that prosciutto being cooked!

I think that the grease is burning (he lights the tip of the coil of meat/bread and it keeps burning) and the oxygen is aiding the burn while propelling it forward. That make sense?
But you can cut through a cookie sheet with it!
