Also known as the correct usage of the word tremolo, this involves taking any note, and giving the bar a slight back-and-forth wiggle. This can be done subtly, or dramatically. I like to quickly run my left hand up the G string, settling on a high note, and shaking the trem for all it's worth.

I bough the new Wilco CXd and liked the wild guitar Tremolo use as well as the lap pedal steel & slide guitar tremolo sound.

With my RD bass the Moog Compression Mode was intended to be like a lap pedal steel. It has no attack sound, but sustains forever (almost).
