Anyone else like music that's just weird, and really out there? I'm starting to get into Nuclear Rabbit, and I think I've found the one band that can out-weird Primus, or even Les' solo work. Gogol Bordello are pretty strange too. And the entire drone metal scene is just... WTF?

Jean Baudin sent me a complimentry copy of a Nuclear Rabbit CD, it's pretty wild. hectic, whatever you want to call it.

I guess something like Meshuggah would count...and Primus. Apart from that sorta thing, my tastes are pretty mild

A few things that come to mind would be artists like Frank Zappa, Ornette Coleman, Delerium, but I don't know if any of this would be considered that far out there.

I don't know, some of Zappa's stuff was pretty bizarre (Exhibit A: the spoken intro to Muffin Man)

King Crimson and early Todd Rundgren had some pretty strange stuff. Utopia albums from the 70's have some great musicianship as well. My favorite is RA

A fair portion of music that I listen to would probably qualify as this thread title; though I've never been a huge fan of Nuclear Rabbit. Ever heard of Unexpect? That's a pretty weird group.

Wow I've never heard RA before...the bass is killer!
I have heard of Unexpect. Is that at the Trois Rivieres fest? Some of my favorite Cryptosy footage was filmed there, one of Lord Worm's last performances with the band, I believe.

I just discovered these guys on accident while looking for Dead Can Dance videos on YouTube. They are called Corvus Corax, and they are a traditional pipe troupe from Germany. I say traditional in that they try to interpret early music with more of a free-form style, since many performers of such music back in that period would often make changes on-the-fly. Personally, I totally dig these guys! I don't really consider this to be "weird as F*** music, as I have always been strongly drawn to the music of the Renaissance period.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about them. One cool thing about Corvus Corax is that the members make all of their own instruments. The band Tanzwut is the same group as Corvus Corax, but with a more "industrial" sound, they might be of interest as well.

I saw them play in Germany. I used to love bagpipes. I still don't mind them, as long as I don't have to play them

Ah, that would be so cool to see them live. Where were they playing? Most of the live videos I've seen of them were at Renaissance faires or something.

Their tour schedule shows them in Mexico City soon, then back to Europe for several dates. I am hoping they come here to the US eventually.

I'm not sure which album the song on the video is from. RA is my favorite Rundgren album though.

Man, that seems a lot longer ago than it really was. I did so much piping stuff--concerts, contests, lessons, festivals; performing at them and attending them. That stuff really blurs together, especially towards the end when I began getting sick of it all
But I remember seeing posters for them playing and I was so excited about it, but I'm not sure if it was at a piping festival/competition (gathering) or this group of concerts right outside of Saarbruecken.
