I have been wanting to add some higher-frequency speakers to my rig for a while now, and the BR210 from Carvin caught my eye. I've been using Carvin speakers for many years, and I honestly think they are some of the best you can buy for the price range. Brand-new the BR210 costs $269 plus $29 shipping. So, figure about $300.
But then, what's this I see?
A brand-new "scratch-and-dent" BR210 being sold directly from Carvin on eBay for only $229 and FREE shipping!
Shoot....save $70 on the deal? Heck yeah! Soooo....I pull the trigger. It's mine!
I wait patiently for it to be delivered.
It arrives three days later.
I open the box.
And....it was at that moment that I realized I must have overlooked some little detail in the ad on eBay. But what was it? Hmmm....open up the old ad....read carefully through it....ah....I see it now. Three little words that my tiny brain neglected to question:
"Country Western Vinyl"
The guys in my band literally DIED laughing when I brought it over. There have been discussions ranging from "recover", "orbital sander", "black spray paint", to "leave it, since it's so....well....unique!" and "you should buy the matching 1x15!". I have such support from these guys.
So, to be fair, the thing sounds amazing. Exactly what I wanted tone-wise. It just happens to resemble the wallpaper of some house of ill-repute in the Old West.
Thank Goodness most stages are dark!
