Using Rotosound 66's Again Empty
PostSubject: Using Rotosound 66's Again   Using Rotosound 66's Again EmptyTue Nov 08, 2011 8:09 pm

Man....I didn't realize how much I missed these strings!

Most of you know that I don't have massive amounts of capital these days, and I know that many of You are in the same boat. But I finally had had enough of trying to make cheap strings work, so I bit the bullet, and got me a set of Rotosound 66's.

Jeesh....I had forgotten just how much I LOVE these strings!!! The tone, the feel, the tuning stability....shoot....I sound like a commercial for cotton!

"The look....the feel....of Roto's"

I had been running on whatever cheap strings I could find for a good year before I started using my good old blue steels again. I've found that good strings are a good investment, they always feel better, sound better, and a lot of them seem to last longer.

Hard to say without experimenting, but our friend John Gallagher of Raven uses really light strings on his custom red Explorer, and he has little to no problems.

I tried them once, too big a jump for me. I just ended up gorilla gripping them so they sounded pretty bad with me behind them. I remember John Gallagher mentioning that he gets a lot of range out of his similarly light strings though so like anything else it really depends on the player.

And actually, John Gallagher uses really light strings. I can't remember the gauge, but they aren't too much larger than guitar strings. This was extremely apparent when Linda and I hung out with Raven in Seattle two years ago, and John handed me his Explorer to try out. His brother Mark said "they're like rubber bands!" Laughing
