Meshuggah high Empty
PostSubject: Meshuggah high   Meshuggah high EmptySat Apr 23, 2011 3:53 am

I have been listening a lot to Meshuggah lately & going back in their catalogue. To me they are one of those bands that I listen to & instantly connect with. Thinking about it, I think I know why. With their odd time signatures, syncopated rhythms, they could be considered more a prog rock than metal band. On top of that, on their earlier works, the freestyle guitar solos are heavily influenced by Alan Holdsworth, borderline on jazz rock fusion. The guitar snapping rhythm guitar tone almost is bass like (it could be done a bass).

However I do find the constant tone & style of the singer gets receptive (not that I dislike his constant abusive screaming), but I guess its part of their style. At least they know who they are and do not deviate from the audio punishment. No ballads or rapping here.

Wonder how many females attend their concerts not being dragged by their boy friends?

In summery a great band that no other band sounds like. Definitely an acquired taste I imagine

I'm a big fan of listening to music in extremes, so If I want to listen to some power metal. It had better be facerippingly fast, If i want to listen to hair metal, it had better be cheesy etc. For me, meshuggah fits that description as they're honestly about the only band I've heard that's coming anywhere near to the limits of heaviness in music.

Just brilliance

Oh and yes a lot of their tone comes from the bass, have a listen to just the bass and drums.

I like the twangy tone of the bass.
