just wanted to post these pictures. i got the new router and it is a better tool and this is the 3rd kahler install i've done and i've gotten much better. how much better? how about i did this all with tracing the template with a pencil on the bass and took the cam out and traced the kahler base on the bass for the recessed mount ... then cut everything freehand.

this is just easy anymore.

judge for yourself ............

chek out all the wood shavings on my workbench top ... you shud see the floor! i gotta clean up tomorrow.

so ... this took about 2 hours. i had a nut and strings on it in another 30 minutes. it only took me about 10min to do a set up including intonation, and ........

this bass plays really nice. the relief is not what i expected because there isnt any with the nut a 1/4 turn after torque. i'm gonna leave it sit for a few days with high tension on the strings (got it tuned to ADGB) to try and get it to bend forward a bit. if that doesnt work ... then i might just get it wet and see if it bows forward then. i hope i dont have to put leverage on it. i think this thing has just been sitting too long without strings on it. at least its straight and the frets are perfect. this neck is really super thick 1.25" front to back and 1.85" wide at the headstock.

and a correction from the new toys post. i said that i ordered ken armstrong pickups for this bass because i wanted to try them ... well ... i still do, but thats not what i ordered. i ordered tesla humbuckers cause i really wanna try these too. i realized this when i was cheking the books yesterday ... i have so much stuff on order. i shud be having about $700 in just parts coming in this week. i'll be busy.

dremel trio.

stock 1/4" bit in the 1/4" collet.

1/8" dual side bit with the 1/8" collet jammed in the 1/4" trio collet.

1/16 single side reverse flute bit in a smaller collet jammed in the 1/4" trio.

so i was happy that my precision mill bits i bought for my dremel 300 can be used with the trio as well. definitely a good purchase.

looks like my Series10 guitar is in MadMike's territory out for delivery today Smile
although he is not routing for a Kahler, he is doing a complete restore on it and I have confidence in his previous work and now with this new batch of pics.....well.... I just know it will be nice when it's done SmileSmile
I'm buying a fixed Kahler 7440 next week, and if so, I'll mail it to him and he will toss that on the bass instead of the OEM bridge. I ALMOST thought about buying a 7410 for it, but naw...not this for this unit Sad

maybe next month I'll have him put one on my Kramer 710 ????
