this one isnt mine but mine looks exacly the same ... just a more beat up for the before pic ......
OMG that washburn bridge was horrible.
anyhow ... i stripped it down nekid like and like i posted ... this thing is 20 ply. just real cheap wood too. the plys to the edge with the grain ending is porous and couldnt get the paint finish smooth. eh ... i did the best i could and it looks 300% better and 500% cooler.
dont tell washburn i reproduced their vintage logo for the headstock. i'm even gonna burnish the original serial numbers on the back of the headstock.
the neck got stripped down to remove the gig rash. i just put the first coat of tongue oil finish on it this morning ... it looks nice. this is the neck thats got the truss rattle. after another setup, it didnt rattle all summer so i never did anything about it. after i took the strings off and the bass apart, you can feel it shakin around in there. i tried re - humidifying it but its not good enuff. i'm gonna get it together and get the setup right then i'm gonna inject some swell lock in there. that should do the trick.
also thinking of replacing the dimarzio split p with an emg unit ... just to make it more sellable.
this bass will be for sale in about a month.
