Zakk Wylde meet-and-greet today in Seattle!

So our guitarist Andy gets a call from Zakk saying that he's going to be in town today at Borders doing an autograph session, and asking if we would like to come down. Heck YEAH, we're going to be there!

Shoot....I should have shouted out to you sooner, Martin! Any chance you'll be there? Here are the details:

Andy reckoned that we would all hang out together after the event, so I can well imagine all of us heading to a bar or restaurant afterwards. I'll have pictures to post tomorrow.

Actually, I'm going to spend the night at my mom's house in Shoreline (N of Seattle. I live in Kirkland, on the east side of lake Washington. To get to Shoreline, I have to take a bus to downtown, then transfer to a bus that will take me north), so I can stop by on my way there!

I don't have anything for him to sign, though. I think I've thrown out the Revolvers I've gotten about five minutes after I got them because there wasn't much that I was interested in. Rip out a Dio poster, read an article about Maiden...I'm done with it.

Cool! Linda and I are going to swing by and grab our singer John on the way down, and we should be getting to Borders by around 4:30 or 5. It will be close, but I think we'll make it. Andy is trying to get away from work so he can meet us as well.

Wow! Really cool! We just got back about an hour ago, and I have pictures to share! Zakk was uber-cool, and our own dear Martin aka Chowderboots made it down as well!

It was kind of a bummer though, since Andy couldn't make it down. But he told me that since he worked for so many years for Zakk, he'll have a lot of other chances to get together with him.

So as I walk up to Zakk and explain that I'm Andy's bass player, Zakk goes "so where is that douchebag anyways?" I explained that Andy had a ton of work to do, and that he'd catch him later. As Zakk and I are talking, his assistant Mark snaps a picture of us with his camera phone, and sends it to Andy. Immediately, Andy calls my phone and goes "so you're right there with Zakk now?" I said yes, so Andy says "put the douchebag on the phone!" So I go "hey Zakk! You wanna talk to Andy?" Zakk laughs, takes my phone, and immediately starts dealing on Andy with "you know Bro, everyone here f*****g hates you!" They talked for a bit on my phone, with Zakk asking when they would be able to get together again and hang out. Zakk hands me back my phone, and Andy told me that we would work on getting together with Zakk when we could just hang with the dude. So here is Zakk talking to Andy on my cell phone:

It was a really cool evening, and Zakk turned out to be just as cool a dude as Andy says he is. It was an added bonus to finally meet and hang out with our very own Chowderboots!

Joey Belladona from Anthrax is playing up here on Sept 15th. Our band is not on the bill, but our friends in another band are playing, so we are going to try to go down and check it out. I hope I can convince the promoter to let me in as part of the band videotographer because I just bought a new camera and don't want to pay 18.00 for a ticket and backstage pass....

Anyway, zakk wyldes a pretty solid player, but his tenure in ozzy has brought around another bloody problem.

There is an unholy wave of zakk wylde fans who seem to openly denounce gus g Based on the fact that he replaced zakk. Who "don't see how he's any better than zakk" or other crap like that. This is pretty much the stupidest thing i've ever seen. No offense to zakk but gus can just DO more. But even so that's not the point, the point is that there's not much reason why they need to be locked into mortal combat.

Even Zakk himself said that he admires Gus, and that he's happy he's playing with Ozzy, so folks just need to chill on the whole "Zakk vs. Gus" thing.

Again, there is no such thing as "better than". There is only "different". It's yet again, personal preference, and nothing more. Zakk isn't better than Gus, and Gus isn't better than Zakk. They're different, and that's all. It's like trying to compare Eddie Van Halen with Randy Rhoads. You can't. Trying to compare those two to each other is one of the dumbest concepts on the planet, as far as I'm concerned.

+1! Gus is more technical but he's not necessarily any better. Zakk was with ozzy for ages, theres plenty of zakk-ozzy. and they also have black label society. So really everyone wins.

everyone talking about gus and zack and ozzy ... i really miss randy roades. i listen to blizzard and diary about 20 to 1 of any other ozzy band (not counting sabbath). randy was just such an interesting style guitar player / writer. there has not been anyone like him since.
