The Euro is getting down. Empty
PostSubject: The Euro is getting down.   The Euro is getting down. EmptyWed May 19, 2010 9:48 am

A couple of weeks ago, Euro started getting down, and now, analyst over here are predicting that the Euro will split up and that the European Union will fall back to their ancient ''money''.

That is, if that happen, the US dollar will go up like nonsense! And that is a good news for Canada, we will sell more to the US, and our dollar will go well too.

But on the other side of the pond, the ancient EU will have split up and their economy will fall even more. And their exchange rate will be low too.

That brings me to the main subject, if all of that happens, I will no more buy from the US. But I'll buy from europeans(except England). So, the European market will be open for me. The european Bass market!

I don't know European bass manufacturer(that isn't based in England) except of Vigier.

Just wanted to say it, Eric if it's too political, I can delete some passage.

Not at all, NB. You've only pointed out what may very well happen, and I don't consider economics to be of a political nature per se. Now, how we respond to any given financial situation can be, and usually is, political.

And if you find that you can do better buying from other than the United States, then I say go for it. It is one thing to say that we need to support our own economics here at home, but if things are priced so that they are out of reach, but can be had from somewhere else for less, then of course people will try and get the best value for their dollar. If the economic state of this country was such that people had lots of extra disposable cash on hand, that would be one thing. But people don't have a lot of money right now. As an American, I try to buy American as much as possible, because I do believe in supporting our system here, as well as keeping jobs here. But if whatever it is costs quite a lot less elsewhere, given my very limited amount of cash, sometimes I don't really have a choice.

In my ideal world, people here would be working decent jobs for good wages, keeping their heads above water financially, have enough for good healthcare and education, and be able to save a little and enjoy the fruits of their labor while being good stewards for the environment.

And to think that you were worried about sounding too political! Laughing

Yeah, I totally understand what you say. Me I try to buy most of the things from Quebec, cheese, milk, steak, rice. But on the bass side, I can't count on Canada very much(We pretty much just have luthier over here).

It's far from easy being a student and buying local, but I do what I can to do so.

That's only partially true. From my understanding, it will be very bad if the Euro fails. While it will make both our dollars go way up in relation to the European currencies, due to globalization, multinational corporations, etc, all the world economies are linked. So, if the Euro goes belly up, our economies (as well as the economies of most of the rest of the world) will take a plunge, albeit one not nearly as bad as the European economies.

Man, I think that's a little sad. The EU and the Euro are really unique.

The EU won't go under. The Euro may callapse, but it will take a lot more than economic turmoil for the EU itself to fall apart. Although, from my understanding one of the main reasons countries like Turkey are trying to join the EU is for the Euro.

i don't believe either will to be honest with you, a huge load of speculation always goes on but nothing ever happens. THe same thing happened in australia, they like to make a big stink about stuff to stir up interest. but honestly i don't think the euro or the EU will fold.

hey if the value of the dollar goes up, the advertisement that Walmart is famous for will come true:

"more for your dollar" instead of just "more value for your dollar"--lol
