| I put fender flats on my syeinberger, 10x more clank and clarity. I put them on originally in celebration of the Celtics (hear that Bill? LOL) beat the Cavs (fender=green silk, celtics=green) but I liked em a lot so I kept em on. Don't get me wrong I love the other flats but these are so nice, I forgot how awesome they are.
Yes, unless they are way dead or broken I keep old strings.
Video coming soon. |

| mmmm, clanky new striing sound unless of course you use rounds on a jumbo fretted board with only a couple of mm space under the string, then it's clank for months or years |

| i like the new string piano string sound ... it just rings out better when keeping the mids down.
but i always keep a set of old strings around for when one goes "beooow" at practice or a gig and i ned to slap one on quick. |

| Try heavy gauge new strings.
Funny to, I was just reading somewhere how some loves their string dead as a door nail. Different strokes.
I love new strings with harmonic brightness. |

| BD, I used to host a Bon-Jovi/Journey tribute band in my jamroom, and their bassplayer had a Peavy Fury p-bass, and he was the same way. Flats on it, and when he used to use my rig, the EQ was always set like a frown....ZERO highs, but that was the way he liked it. I let him check out my clanky Charvels enough times, and all he would do is "cringe" from the superlow action and string "tick". I once reset my eq to see what that Peavey would sound like EQ'ed my way, and UGH/BLECH/YIKES/...whatever. I could never get that thing to clank |
