ok come on..PM me or do it publicly but I'm selling off a lot of stuff lately anticipating this project...
tell me how much and let me ship the stuff to you already Wink

for months I need the kahler installed, eh..ok not a big deal and it will get done sooner or later BUT now that 2 jackson P/HB's have shown up on ebay, those 2 have KILLED me with BMS saying "do it- do it ya dumb****, look how badass those are". (BMS=BassModSyndrome)

p.s. I bought that j40 HB pup BEFORE those 2 hit ebay so I had no "true" example of what it would really look like.

I could add a pre and switch to make it a perfect clone to the 3b/concert on ebay right now or leave it alone as in the pic below from the other one that was on ebay recently.
I highly doubt I'll EVER see another humbuker for sale out there for a long, long time so I'm not selling it I'm gonna USE it SmileSmile
.
so basically I'm gonna OUT-DO those 2 on ebay by adding the kahler. It will look stupid with my gold one, but as long as the hole was there, I can always find a black one.
the trim ring is about a 16th of an inch too short on either side of the J, but if I really wanted to I would fill it in, and paint it antique white or find a slightly larger trim ring.

so routing a couple holes and mounting the kahler..what's that gonna cost...surely you could use an extra hundred or 2 right?
your labor would be for my white LEFTY, because I'm not building this to sell, I'm building this to keep, and now that I bought the pink lefty, I'm not worried about the guitar being gone for a month.

after ( but with a kahler on it naturally )

Oh yeah I saw those. Such cool guitars. I hope it works out to put the J40 in that thing! The humbucker ring might not be big enough to cover the J pickup route, though.

they stopped using that HB in 86 so any factory job will be 85 or back.

ya since the j cutout does not have the 1/2circle wings on the sides of the hole, the oem trimring sits with about 1-16 of an inch on each end of the hole certainly within specs. It is a big pickup and if you look at the pic is almost as big s the length of the p.

Can you tell me more about this pickup? I think I know what it is, but I'm not sure. They aren't very common, are they?

I dunno CB, its a dual coil with 2 wires per coil like any other. each coil is 7.5k so I can wire it up dual coil/single coil/7.5k, or series them for 14k or phaseshift...etc...standard 4 pole humbuker like anything else as far as I know. Like I said in the other post, I would toss it in my 1b cause there IS no j in it, but I wantit to keep not to sell, so my lefty will be the one that gets it...MAN if I could only find a lefty 1b, but I NEVER saw one of those ( as well as a lefty concert ) << If I find a lefty concert, I'll bet the price will be high!!! affraid

iddid take a minute to find the right material, but i'de find some 1/8" plastic (white phenolic) and machine a wider base pickup ring to cover the jazz pickup hole. oh yes ... that means it would be "custom"!

well I found a guy in Johnstown PA that is going to do it. I have to either drive it out there or mail it ( the hour-1/2 drive to Johnstown is only worth it when the temps are 75-80 and sunny, so UPS here I come )

I got his info and recommendations from the folks at the LeftyGuitarTrader site so I'm gonna pull everything off tonight, and ship it this week since he said he won't be able to even start on it until this weekend so the next time you all will see my white lefty it will be very different looking. ( ugly gold trem on it ) -- but only temporarily till I can find a black 7410 or 2410...

If the guy does "really" good, I told him I have other projects that I just don't have the tools for.
