| I see you're interested in transtrems. I am too, and I can tell you that trying to persue them will only lead to frustration and heartbreak.
I believe you could put one in a Spirit. If you can find one. HUGE if. There were only 150-200 made (depending on whose numbers you trust). If you can, why the f*** would you put it in a steinberger spirit? They didn't make replacement ones, so the only ones around are the ones that came stock on the Steinberger basses. BTW, the basses almost always go for $4000+. Ed Roman is the only guy who can consistantly get them, but he's a douche who doesn't deserve your money. Also his are $6000.
In other words, you'd be better off convincing someone to machine one for you (could cost quite a bit, as they seem pretty difficult to make). And then telling me, because I'd get one in a heartbeat.
Also, Hohner B2A>Steinberget Spirit. | |

| Thats stupid. Oh well. (For the money I'm spending) I could afford to get an SX and a kahler. | |

| Ya probably a better idea. But if anyone knows someone who would make me a transtrem, or at least a headless trem without the transposing, I'd be really interested. | |

| Played one today (well yesterday) to see if I would be sure I wanted to buy the spirit. I loved it. It could be better without the EMGs but I can always trade for Barts | |

| I'm afraid that what the Guys have said about the TransTrems for bass is the truth, T. As Kugel said, the best anyone at Steinberger can recall is that there were only 150-200 of the bass TransTrems ever made. A few of us here on this board have sent messages to Steinberger asking if they will ever produce more. Sure they will....at a cost of $10,000 each for a custom order. Once in a very great while, you'll find a Steinberger bass with a TransTrem selling on eBay. They usually go for several thousand dollars. It is true that the TransTrem was a superior bass tremolo system, but I wouldn't count on ever having one unless you happen to get really lucky. Now, I like your idea of a Kahler on an SX, as this is exactly what I do now. | |

| Well seeing I'm spending $120 on this bass (no typo!!!), I think I could get a few Essexes with kahlers before I come close to the price of a Spirit new. | |

| You'll T.Gunn, that when you've went over the 100$ more regularly, over 100 or less than 100 will be the same. That is, easy to spend! | |
