PostSubject: taking a break   taking a break EmptyMon Mar 15, 2010 4:13 am

i got that jason newstead thing going on. i wake up in the morning and cant close my hands ... very painful. fingers locking open or closed ... force them ... snap ... ouch!

i have an apointment set up with a doctor to get a series of cortizone shots in my hands (again). thattl be good for about a year. ultimately, i need surgery (again). i had great results from the surgeries before (like, back up and playing in 2 days!), but i dont have health insurance to cover that.

we have a gig this saturday. i'll struggle thru some practices ... but no more gigs untill the end of may.

i surrender!

all I can say is best wishes to you on the diagnosis recovery and insurance thing. I have been there many times in my past with no or under-insured insurance which left me with many hospital bills when it was necessary to get medical help with no money.

My sentiments exactly. Do what you have to Bro to get better.

This is what has always distressed me about getting older. I, too, can feel my hands starting to age, and it sucks.

MadMike, your situation is yet another example of why we need universal health care in this country. If we had it, getting the help you needed wouldn't be an issue.

thanx guys.

furreal ... this isnt a big deal. i can get the cortizone at the clinic ... $60, and i gotta have two weeks downtime to heal up a bit and i'll be good as new for summertime gigging.

That is a relief. But it still bums me out to hear of one of our own going through any sort of distress.

Best wishes with this. I have been battling Carpel Tunnel in both wrists, then got tennis elbow in my left arm so have been unable to play or touch a bass for the last 6 weeks & is still not better.

Carpel Tunnel I had better luck with- without surgery.
