I remember a while ago you posted this photoshopped picture here:

Chowderboots! Kellycaster

Out of curiosity, where is that body from? Or was the entire body just created in photoshop? The reason I ask is that my friend and I have begun planning to build him a good guitar and I showed him that picture and he practically fell in love. Any info on the guitar (other than the tele parts) would be much appreciated, thanks! Smile

Ah, see I don't generally pay much attention to all these crazy, pointy guitars. I thought maybe there was one that was originally semi-hollow. Laughing

ahh ... the elusive mystrious functionless f hole!

sounds dirty! Suspect

i've seen many basses in the last few years that are solid body with a f hole shape routed into it. what the heck is that!?!?!?

like homer simpson's "speed holes". makes it go faster.

if you really wanted a kelly with an f hole in it, i'm sure you could do that pretty nice during a finish refurb job with a decent router and template.

point is ... just cause theres an f hole, doesnt mean that its a hollowbody.

when i first started playing, hollowbody basses were a no no and frowned upon. except for the feedback issue ... i was never really sure why and just never bought one. i played one a few years back, slimline acoustic, fretless with tapewound strings, ddario pickups i think maybe, with onboard preamp / eq. it was really sweet sounding!

another nugget.

as i look into the future of building a warmoth explorer ... warmoth is offering the explorer body, hollow (?), not a hollowbody or an acoustic, but hollow none the less to adress the weight issue. dont know if this is what i want or not ... quality? sound? but as warmoth wont do a kahler rout, i dont think this is what i want. i start routering and i go right into a hollow pocket ... doh!

ah ... they call it "chambered". cheggidoot ........
