havent been here a minute. busy figuring out how to make kilts. know what i figured out? making kilts sucks. anyhow ........

been doing auditions and looking for a gig. im bored. i wanna go f - someshit up!

and i wanna build a new bass. the last 5 projects have been guitars, including the sg sitting unfinished on my bench.

i have a mahogany one piece body blank. its only so big so i cant make a gibby RD or a pointey out of it. i was thinking a tele shape with an elongated body to fit a kahler.

does anyone have any other suggestions?

Tele body with a Kahler would be a pretty awesome combination in my opinion.
It just seems so wrong that its... right.

ya I got a suggestion, buy my warlock. ( I highly doubt you would want it since it is the korean version and no room for a kahler )

yes eric ... kilts. yes, it was a sweatshop. yes, i wore one a few times. unless i had a good reason to, no, i wouldnt want to wear one again.

i walked away from that job after having to eat my hat (again). blue collar and skilled artisan employers in this country have gotten so disrespectful and rude to those who have the skills to do this kinda work ... but they dont care about the work. they care about the money ... and the insulting pay really shows in the crappy workmanship thats been comming out of this country lately ... but thats another thread.

im going back to school and changing careers. i want to work in the med field. changes in insurance (way more have it now) and aging boomers ... theres no shortage of business. plus ... i might get to help some people. thats cool.

if you had any interest, i have 2 of them i would consider selling. one is cheap PV and the other is wool. yes, i can alter them for you to fit to a certain degree. they are 34" waist 22" - 24" length.

nothanks mike. never buying another b.c. rich ever again.

yeah ... gonna finish up this SG and then make a tele bass.

black or blue trans finish?

Actually, both Linda and I have Scottish ancestry, with me having direct ties to the Cummings clan, and Linda with the Ogilvie clan. We are thinking of having kilts made in our respective clans tartan designs.

As far as the finish question, I usually default to black. But the blur trans sounds like it could be nice!

the tartans of the 2 kilts are sterling in PV and Flyers custom in wool.

im not an expert but i haddnt heard of those tartans. you may be able to get wool pieces from scotland and have em made but im pretty sure those arent a standard tartan you can get off the rack in PV and that means $$$.

as far as selection available in this country at affordable materials and prices, my ex employer had that. i mean ... you dont want to pay $2k for a one off weave and $300 to make each one or $600 for a scottish made kilt? you want a $100 kilt? ... am i right?

anyhow ... the blank i got is mahogany. its a pore filled wood that i usually fill in ebony to make the grain pop real hard thru the trans color. i did trans blue on the carvin v440. i think im gonna do trans black this time.

i need a neck! the jazz neck i did with the jaguar with alterations to eliminate the string trees stayed in tune and worked really well. it was a metiocre neck even tho it was bound. i think i might try a usag or an allparts.
