Correct-a-mundo on all counts, Martin. The first Kahlers did come with a small stop screw that threaded downward through the back of the cam plate. It was meant to be adjusted to hit the bottom of the wood routing pocket in the body of the bass, so that the trem's return point could be controlled in that the screw prevented the cam from coming back beyond the point where the screw hit the wood. This way, you couldn't pull up on the arm, only down. This meant that the trem didn't float. It would only drop.
My first Kahler's had them, but they stopped putting them in after a while. Why they did, I have no idea, but I imagine that it had to do with the fact that the screws had a tendency to bend and break after a while from the pressures being exerted on them from the cam pressing them into the wood. I kept the one in my first Kahler for about six months before it started to bend, then I pulled it out, and never used them again.
