Apparently, the string retainers on status basses are about 2 inches away from the nut, and they make it so you can bend notes. I don't know much about it TBH, just something I came across on accident

I have never heard of the man, but his web page indicates that he worked with some of rock's earliest and most successful acts, including ABBA, Cream, and Led Zeppelin. It would appear that he now does a lot of custom work on cars, but still does some custom guitar work now and again. I found these images from his website:

I couldn't find any information on this bass at all. Anyone interested can visit Goran's site at: http://hem.passagen.se/hemipanter/

Several years ago, I saw and won an eBay listing for a used fulcrum-style bass tremolo that looked almost exactly like a Floyd Rose. It featured fine tuners, used regular springs and a claw, and it pivoted on two points on the front of the bridge plate. It did not resemble any of the bass tremolo systems we have listed here. It was totally unique, and I have never seen one like it.

The seller couldn't tell me much about it, other than he thought it had come from Germany. I threw it into ...

The sad thing is that he doesn't offer the trem by itself, but instead, you have to purchase one of his basses to get one.

Sadly, there were only 200 of the Trans Trem for bass ever produced, making them extremely rare. Given the fact that the strings were clamped into the bridge, and that it used double ball-end strings that held them in place at both ends, this would make this unit probably the closest anyone has come to producing a fully-locking bass tremolo system. Steinberger vanished for a while, then were picked up by Gibson. The official website is at: www.steinberger.com , and there is also a historical ...

When I emailed Kramer asking them about it, they indicated that they couldn't remember exactly, but they thought it was Rockinger that made the trems for them, although no one I spoke to at Rockinger seemed to recall ever doing such a thing for Kramer. Nonetheless, the Carrera did have a tremolo, and I can confirm this absolutely because I actually played one ...

An interesting concept, and I did own one once. The tremolo featured a split-plate design that was controlled with two arms. In this way, you could affect the pitch of either just the E & A strings, or just the D & G strings. The idea was that you could hit your E and let it ring out while doing some little tremolo/soloing along the G string. But the idea never really caught on, despite even having models for guitar, and the company folded within a year or two of introduction. Even though ...
