this thing is really cool!

trying it out last night, the tone sounded pretty warm for only turning it up 1/2 way to 1. i'm thinking (and hoping) that this thing is way more power than i need (more is better!). the contour and eq is iffey ... kinda throaty sounding, but i'm sure with preamp modeling and processing, i can get whatever sound i want. i havent spent enuff time yet.

with the fan running ... its real ...

I cannot tell you Guys just how much of a pleasant surprise these cabinets have been. From the rave reviews I read before I bought them, I knew that they would be a good choice, but I had NO idea just how much I was going to enjoy them! The 1x15 handles every bit of distortion signal I can throw at it, and the 2x15 is absolutely pure thunder! The only thing I might do is add ports to the 2x15 to get even more thunder out of it, but I have no complaints about how it sounds as it is. The guys I ...

It is really coming down to the wire for me. I must get a new rig together, as I now have the chance to form one of (or all of, for that matter) three different bands with my guitarist buddy Andy Beech.

So the time has come for me to build a rig back up. How I am going to finance it at this point, I have no clue. But I am starting to look at different amplifiers, and one name that has come up as an economical and quality choice is Acoustic. I have read tons of reviews that sing their praises, ...

As of today, I only have the Behringer V-Amp Pro preamp still to come. Everything else has arrived, and I have had a chance to test almost all of it. And while it's OK for the most part, I've run into a few hiccups.

Let me start with the good stuff.

The QSC GX3. All I can say is....WOW! What a mutha of an amplifier! Ultra light-weight, crystal-clear, and LOUD! I will gladly give a ringing endorsement for this amp to anyone who asks.

The Seismic Audio Cabinets. OK....I have not ...

I've got this thing running through my QSC into my 1x15 cabinet, and I am almost speechless with how awesome this thing sounds! Wow! The tonal parameters are such that you can dial in just about any bass tone you can think of! And the effects are, surprisingly, really cool! It has the usual flanger/phasor/chrous/delay, but it also has a synth patch that almost perfectly nails the opening Moog Tarus pedal sound that Geddy Lee gets for Tom Sawyer, and the Funk and Wah patches are some of the best ...

Long story....um....not so long perhaps. With the three lucrative music offers recently given to me, I knew that I had to do something for a new bass rig, since I have not been able to get one ever since moving up here. Even with my new job, I still barely keep my head above water, and these new band offers include the chance of doubling my current income level by playing out a few times a month. This is good, since it means being able to finally pay off some very long-overdue debts, and get ...

I guess the worst that can happen is I return it.
solid state has reached its limits for me.

even with tube preamp.

my peavey sounds great, but i'm tired of just cranking it to get enuff volume.

price is an issue. with all the effects i use, simple ampeg svt might not cut it for the price. having an amp custom built is pricey. mesa, laney, green, orange .... way too expensive. love to have one ... just cant afford it.

shopping around ... i found this ........

in case some of you didnt catch it, eric and i were having some back and forth about ohms law. it was a good excercise as this is important information for bassists to be familiar with. eric posted a lot of useful information there.

the question arose about what was going on with my rig.

two speaker jacks comming out of the back of the amp, paralled with a minimum load of 4 ohms.

i have 2, 8 ohm cabinets, one with an extension out jack paralled.

either way, amp to cabinet ...

Just snagged it! EXACTLY like what's in my friend's amp, except bigger and all the knobs are laid out the other way around, but same panel!! Oh man I am SO PUMPED RIGHT NOW! The reverb on that thing is stellar. Tubes in my rack NOW! hahahaha If it's like what I expect, it's the best of all the BK Butler Preamps right there...Yeah!!!

I like it better than anything else...the inputs are on ...
