When I got my bass back a few days ago with the Kahler installed I felt the tension on the bar was way too tight so I loosened the spring tension to avoid tendenitis (did I say it was really tight).

Now when I pull up, all the strings stay sharp - but they are ok when I push down.

Any tips??

I just put on a set of Heavy gauge GHS Boomers and drop tuned to CGCF. So far just the heavy gauge strings sound awesome. They really ring and have great harmonics. The bass sounds really cool now. I need to adjust the intonation next a little. The kahler seems to work fine with the drop tuning & heavy gauge strings (two spring front roller)

I was going to put them on my Les Paul, but I found GHS Long scale are not long enough, due to the LP tail piece.

There are a few horror stories I have heard of guys putting a Kahler on their bass, only to discover that they can no longer lower their action to a decent level. Why? What happened? Simple. There are some cases where you can install a Kahler so that it sits directly on top of the surface, BUT, there are many instances where the Kahler needs to be counter-sunk into the body of the bass. For example, the Kahlers on both my SX and Yamaha basses are counter-sunk into the body.

The best way ...

One of the most persistent questions I get is "How can I keep a bass tremolo in tune? There's no clamps or top locks. Can it be done?"

Listen to my solo. At the very end, I take all of the strings down as far as the trem will go and let it all grind. When I bring the bar back up at the end, I have a full "E" chord fingered on the neck. Listen closely, and you will hear that my bass is still in tune. No locks. No clamps.

For starters, the tricks for keeping a bass ...
